I had one job to do before I go to the play tonight. One job and that one job was to make sure Alexander Hamilton didn't screw up Philip's life. So, I walk to Hamilton Grange at 11:00 AM a time I know Alexander will be home with a basket of home-made muffins. I skip my way over there with a small smirk knowing his darkest secrets. As much as I would love to watch him by crushed with rumors and gossip I know this will kill Philip more then anyone. So I must help a bastard to save one.
I reach the cute house and I tilt my head to examine it. Before I get weird looks I continue up the gravel path up to the white front door is. I knock loud, neat, and then I wait for the door to open. Mr. Hamilton appears as tired and nasty as ever. I put on a fake smile.
"I brought muffins!" I cheer. He glares at me before slamming the door in my face. I laugh at his rude manners. So, I knock again. He opens it quickly but before he can even speak I put my foot in between the door so he can't close it.
"You may want to let me in before you crush a 15 year old girl's foot and will have to pay for the cost of my recovery," I sneer at him. His face turned a bit shocked but he lets me in anyway. I hated being this nasty but I have to do what I have to do.
"Philip isn't here, slut," He spits. I smile.
"Oh, I'm not here for him. Did you really think I would come for Philip when I know you are off of work during this time of day," I laugh.
"How do you know my work schedule?" He asks.
"I don't I just know that my father always has a meeting with you early in the morning and then ends at around 10 so I assume that you would come back home for you are not in office anymore," I tell him, "muffin?" I hand him the basket. He looks at it skeptically.
"Are they poisoned?" He jokes.
"Oh Mr. Hamilton if I wanted you dead you would be dead," I tell him.
"Of course," He laughs. I smile letting a small chuckle roll off my tongue as well. He wasn't to bad when he didn't utterly hate you.
"So, why are you here?" He asks.
"Well, you see as you know I made a comment yesterday referring to a certain unpublished pamphlet," I tell him. His face goes white as he looks around the room. He grabs my arms and drags me up the stairs. I place the muffins on the couch and kick my shoes off leaving them on the bottom floor as I am dragged up the stairs. I know how Mrs. Hamilton hates having shoes on upstairs. So even though I don't think she is here I still respect her rules.
We make it into Mr. Hamilton's office and he shuts the door behind us. He room was dim and very messy. Papers were thrown everywhere and ink was spilled. I hadn't noticed before but Mr. Hamilton's hands were covered in ink.
"How do you know about 'Observations on Certain Documents'," Alexander asks fearfully.
"First of no on will call it that long dumb name. So let's refer to it as the...Reynold's Pamphlet," I start, "Second of all, I know everything Mr. Hamilton I have friends very high up."
"So, you mean your father and all his uptight 'Know it All' friends," Mr. Hamilton laughs as he crosses his arms, "and do not make a nickname for my pamphlet! This is a serious topic!"
"Well your serious topic has a dumb name," I joke. We both laugh and he seems to relax a bit.
"For your information I am on your side. I'm not here to expose you but to help you," I tell him.
"How can a 15 year old help me?" He laughs.
"I don't know if you know this but I know people and I know how gossip and rumors are spread. I think you should wait until August to post the pamphlet. It's best for your family and because my father and all his friends already know about this so it's too new to them. They will pounce on it if it is published this month. Let them settle down a bit then bring it up. It will be old news to them," I inform him. I sit on an extra chair in his office. He sits down too and crosses his legs so he can lean on his leg as he listens.
