We met in the Preschool

19 2 15

We met in the preschool.
You came and sat beside.
As toddlers and gem of a parent's eye,
Springing childhood we spend
Sometimes sharing a lunch,
Or a chocolate candy
You called me best friend that time.

We again met at an elementary,
New school and teachers
Old friends with new dresses
Excited the days about.
We still remained best friends that time.

A little grown up were We,
Learning on the bicycle,
Again the school changed
From elementary to secondary.
Yet we remained close friends,
Sitting side by side,
Sometimes you did a mischief,
Happily we complaining aside.

We got a common team,
The "best duo" they're jealous about!
Even sneaking late nights,
You peeked in my home -
Cheering out team in Red!
They score we cry!
We lose we harder cry!
But shh! Don't wake mommy up.
Yet even most cautious,
There were hour spells
Of scolding scolding and scolding!
But you just smiled,
Looking at me.

I was so lucky,
For you being with me,
For you were just too notorious,
Secretly blasting chaos out,
Yet they blamed me!

Yep, I knew it was you when,
I found my pancakes missing,
No other devil on Earth present,
Leaving no slightest thought.

Sometimes I'd forget my book,
And then I shivered in fear,
And oh! You too my ignod friend!
Kicked out of class that day!

Our team won a tournament man!
You assisted that winning goal!
Though I bagged the Striker award,
Only you cared when I fell injured.

It was late I realised.
We were changing,
We wer growing up,
Day by day there was,
Things that never happened
In those old toddler times.

Every other around us
Captured us within a jail,
That made up of books and tests,
We were made to put
To sit in that study table,
Ten, twelve even fifteen hours
Each and every day.

The same who were happy,
Bagging the trophy,
Now none encouraged  our sport.
"Compromise", they said.
"Leave them all for a better tomorrow",
They all claimed.

Grades grades and grades!
They kept nagging about!
More and more study,
They forced us to do around.

Times faded away.
Marks became one's identity.
I coped up with that,
They praised and said good about me.
You tried your best,
Though you never liked
Yet couldn't make up high,
And termed as an
"Outrageous nitwit fool"!
Knowing nothing of the world's rules
Sitting in the classroom.

Now whenever you looked at me,
A face with anger and betrayal,
Where a smile buried deep down,
Cause I knew how much you hated me,
Cause they compared yours'
Each and every aspect with me.
And there you felt,
You're losing, losing fast
Like in the stormy times,
Your presence faded apart.

I made it through
But you can't.

We promised once -
To remain together,
Enjoying life day by day!
We'd explore highest peeks,
Delve to the deepest trenches,
Celebrate another trophy win!

As I sit, down the earth,
As I knew, by now,
You're free from this cruel world.
But you can't feel these tears,
That wetted your forever bed.

Life is never of togetherness.
Young fools maybe were we.
They said it horribly right -
Life is a miserable race,
A race that we heartlessly ran,
And that tore us apart.

You failed me to keep a promise.
You still remain a gone friend,
Whom I met at the preschool.
