Chapter 3 - don't let the bad ghosts hurts mommy

As I walked down the hallway of our house I bent down to pick up the clothes Chanel had dropped. She insisted to help fold laundry, but her tiny arms couldn't carry all the clothes and there were some casualties that couldn't hang on. She giggled as she saw me turn the corner. I grabbed the fresh laundry and started to fold rather fast. The black clock on my wall said it was 4:30.

I shouted out "Natalie we have to go" as I set the wooden hangers back into the closet. Swiftly lifting Chanel off the bed and onto the ground I said "come on Chanel you can come with Natty to drop me off.

"oh and I can stay?!" she bounced up and down eagerly.

"no munchkin.. Not this time" I signed, because I hated saying no to this sweetheart.

"but I can say hi to Zak, and nick. Oh and mister Aaron" she smiled walking to the hallway with me

"yes honey you can say hi to the guys" I reassured her as Natalie grabbed her keys off the couch.

"let's roll" she sang as she open the front door and stepped out. Natalie had agreed to drop me off at the asylum, and happily agreed on babysitting Chanel. She would be knocked out asleep by 8 o'clock anyway.

I turned and locked the front door as natalie got Chanel strapped into her pink booster seat. I climbed into the passengers seat as natalie started the car. With a swift reverse out of the driveway we were on our way to Wayne-Phillips Asylum.

What. A. Joy.

We pulled up slowly into the drive of the asylum. Through the gates that nature had overtaken. I saw a black van and Ian's SUV parked in front of the building there wasn't much of any kind of parking lot to this place. Just a long round about driveway. Natalie pulled behind Ian's vehicle, of course. Her eyes sorta twinkled as Ian jogged over and said "hey Natalie, don't block me in."

She frowned slightly but picked that winning smile right back up "oh don't worry Ian, I won't. I can't stay, gotta babysit baby cub" as she motioned to Chanel in the back seat.

Then I heard the most crazy thing. Ian looked at Natalie and smiled "that's too bad. You seem like you'd be great at this sort of thing." with that he walked off, back over to the van where he was sorting equipment.

Natalie turned to me with the most glamourous smile on her face "ya hear that Maddie, I'd be great" she said oozing out the word great in a suave manner.

"oh hush Nat" I undid my seatbelt and exited the car. Natalie unhooked Chanel and she shot out of the car running over to me. She grabbed my hand and tugged

"come on let's go mommy. You promised hellos."

Natalie raised an eyebrow. "feisty aren't we?"

Chanel put her hands on her hips and said "so"

I couldn't help but laugh at my daughter. She was feisty. I nudged her forward saying "okay let's go say hi and then back to the house with you"

As we walked up on the guys Chanel waved at Aaron first. "Hi Mister Goodwin." he looked up from his tripod and smiled "hiya Chanel. You coming ghost hunting?"

She frowned immediately. "No mommy won't let me come. This one has mean ghosts. So be careful."

Aaron laughed at her frown. "I sure will be careful."

"shes right Casper" Ian chimed in "this lockdown is different from the ones you've been on" Nick followed behind him. Carrying his camera on his shoulder obviously filming, he pointed it to Chanel "say hi to our ghost adventure fans miss Chanel"

She gasped. "hi everyone!!" she waved with her free hand as she held mine with the other. Nick turned the camera onto me saying "And this here is Madeline Viktor. She will be locked down with us. Tonight. In this asylum." as he pointed the camera towards the darkened and gloomy asylum. Nick had a lot of energy when he was filming.

Zak strolled over placing his mic onto his shirt. He was carrying an extra one and then I put two and two together. Blood floated up to my cheeks oddly as a blush formed. They guys are gonna think i wear too much blush if I keep doing this, What am I even blushing for I thought to myself. The man is carrying a mic for goodness sakes. What's the worst that will happen.

"hey Madeline. Can you turn around. I gotta hook you up to a mic real fast." zak said ever so casually.

I stuttered "O-oh o-okay" I turned around and he lifted my shirt up to my midsection. Slight chills formed on my skin as he placed the mic onto my lower back. It was drafty outside since the sun was starting to fall, and zak's hands were rather warm on my skin. I was so gone with thoughts i suddenly realized his hand lingered on my back for a second longer than needed. I blushed wildly at this thought. Then immediately had to stop myself. I just blush at the dumbest things.

"done" he said as I pulled my shirt back down. "thanks" I said slightly turning just my head and shoulders to look back at him. He stopped for a second, he lingered his look at me. I'm not sure if he realized his mouth was slightly ajar and his eyes tinted with a glaze. I was use to this reaction by men, I couldn't help but let the blush creep back onto my face. Zak looked down to see Chanel standing there. "hello."

"Hi Zak" she said with a bright smile she took her little finger and fashioned it into a come her motion. Zak bent down and she whispered in his ear "don't let the bad ghosts get my mommy." she looked at him eye level and very seriously, he looked back at her with a chuckle "don't worry, I've got experience with demons. I know what to do." he said in a cool tone.

Then Chanel being the sweet 4 year old she is wrapped her tiny arms around zak's neck hugging him. "thanks" she said and then she turned to me. "mommy are you sure I have to go"

I looked down "yes dear. It's not safe" I ushered her over to Natalie who was waiting by the car. "take care of her."

I kneeled down to Chanel brushing some hair out of her eye "alright I love you baby. Be good for Natty. I'll be back in the morning." she hugged me and said "I love you." she always became sad when I left her behind. As she got into the car Ian jogged over "you ready". I closed the car door and seconds later they drove off. I looked over to Ian

"yeah..

Lets do this"
