Chapter 8 - What Do You Like?
My day had been wonderful. Chanel was so excited once we told her about the birthday party. She immediately asked zak and Aaron if they would be attending.
On the way we dropped Aaron at his home. He leaned down and said "goodnight Madeline, goodnight Chanel. Later zak" and strolled to his front door.
Zak, and Aaron are good people I thought to myself as we pulled into the driveway some odd minutes later. Chanel had fallen asleep as the sun had completely set behind the houses now. I exited the car and went to get Chanel out, I nudged her lightly but she was out cold. I sighed heavily. Zak came up behind me whispering "Here, let me" he swiftly and carefully lifted Chanel from the seat and carrying her gently through the front door. It was completely dark, I guessed Natalie had gone out for the night. I guided zak to Chanel's baby pink room. I motioned over to the bed where I pulled the blankets down. He set Chanel gently in her little princess bed.
I knew she was asleep and that zak was watching but I couldn't not tell Chanel goodnight. I leaned down whispering "i love you baby cub. Good night " I kissed her forehead lightly and pulled the covers over her.
I switched the nightlight on and cracked the door. Zak followed me into the hall. Now it was just him and I. My heart began to thump. Not even Natalie was here to save me. I walked downstairs while saying to zak "thank you"
I could hear the small laugh come from behind me and I could practically imagine his handsome smirk. I began to blush feverishly.
"For what sweetie?"
My heart raced and I believe those butterflies came back into my stomach.
What was he doing to me.
As I reached the bottom of the stairs something took over me.
"Zak you more than made up for that demon today." I replied
turning to face him "would you like a drink" I smiled hitting him with some kind of 'bedroom' eyes. Whatever it was seemed to work.
"Sure" he replied shocked but pleased at my invitation.
Lightly grabbing just his fingertips I lead him into the kitchen "what would you like" I stated walking over to the counter and leaning back against it.
"What do you have?" he questioned back.
I laughed lightly "what do you like" I said pulling out whiskey.
Holding up a bottle of Jack I asked innocently "did I guess right?"
He smiled walking over to me grabbing the bottle "Yes" as he began to open it. I grabbed the glasses and filled it halfway with ice. "You're not just saying that are you?" I asked zak
"Of course not" he said as he took a straight sip of whiskey.
I took a seat in a chair by the table, as Zak came and sat next to me I asked what had danced around in my mind for awhile now "Zak. Do you think I should go back to the asylum." I said taking a swig of liquor.
"No. You shouldn't." He said in a serious tone. "I couldn't imagine watching something like that happen again. Demons are never any good"
I sipped thinking, I knew he was right.
"You said you'd make up for it, and it seems like you did today so I don't know what else there is to feel guilty for" I said thinking back on today.
"You remember our conversation last night?" he asked as he finished his drink.
"I remember most of it." I said trying to rack my brain of the memory. "The last I remember I handed you your recorder back"
