Chapter 11 - The Date Part 1

Friday moved by so fast. Before I knew it it was 4 o'clock, and I had to get ready for my date with Zak. I blushed to myself. I'll admit I was becoming more, and more nervous as the day went on. I hadn't been on a date since before Chanel was born, with her father.

Natalie was going to take Chanel to Ian's because they were going to have a movie marathon no doubt packed with princess movies.

As I sped home I called Natalie

"Hey, what should I wear on this date." I didn't know where Zak was gonna take me or what we would be doing.

"Umm I don't know, ill see what I can pull out of our closets."

I told her I'd be there soon and hung up.

As I walking into the front door of our beautiful house I was greeted by Chanel

"Mommy are you going on a date with Zak?"

I looked at her, cats out of the bag she must know. She's smart for a 5 year old. "Yes sweetie I am."

She beamed at me.

"Are you ready to go watch movies with Natalie and Ian?"

She bobbed her head in a yes manner.

Natalie was walking down the stairs as she started. "Where is the date"

"I wish I knew" I stated.

She looked over to me as she was grabbing Chanel's bag. "Well good luck. Come on munchkin let's roll"

Chanel have me a big hug and I kissed her cheek. "Have fun baby" I told her as she sprinted off to Natalie's car.

Natalie called back to me from the car "I set some stuff out on your bed" with that she waved by, started her car and drove 5 houses down the block. Surly Chanel would be asleep by the time they got back and carrying her half a block no way.

I strolled back into the house, and up the stairs. I ended up choosing some jeans and a nice blouse Natalie had laid out. I finished getting ready as I heard the doorbell ring.

Oh. My.

I felt my stomach drop. I was so nervous now. I already developed a blush just thinking about answering the door.

I walked down the stairs as I calmed myself and reached for the door knob. I opened it and Zak was standing there with a plastic bag clutched in his hand. He stepped in greeting me with a hug from his free arm. As his arm wrapped around me I hugged him back placing a hand on his chest. Zak always looked good in black. I say always cause you never really see him wear much else.

I looked up at him smiling "Zak, what's in the bag?" I asked curiously trying to peek into the bag. Zak just laughed heading to the kitchen motioning me to follow him.

"We're gonna make spaghetti together for dinner, then I'm taking you somewhere special."

"Special?" I replied with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah special, and secret"

I frowned slightly. I began to grab 2 pots from the cabinet. Filling one with water and the other I handed to Zak. He placed the ground beef into the pan and began to cook it.

I started to boil water as I looked towards Zak, who was stirring the meat.

"Can I have a hint?" I suddenly asked him as I lightly blushed when he looked towards me.

"Alright. You've never been there before, and I guarantee you've never gone to a place like this on a date."

I was just more confused now. Couldn't he say like movie or something. No, Zak wouldn't make it this easy on me. I tried to think of places I've never been on a date.

Zak interrupted me from my thoughts

"Well you can't spend all of dinner trying to figure out where I'm taking you." He laughed, as I looked back over to him

"Okay. Okay. I'll be surprised when the time comes"

I finished boiling the noodles as I said "Zak thank you so much for yesterday. Chanel had a blast."

"You're welcome Madeline, but I honestly didn't mind planning that party with you."

I smile at him as we mixed the spaghetti together.

Zak and I had realized we make a pretty good team in the kitchen.

As we were sitting down to eat Zak said something suddenly

"Hey I'm sorry about acting like an ass to you yesterday. It was wrong of me" me thanking him for yesterday had obviously caused him to think back on the day we had.

I looked across the table at him "Zak it's alright. We're here now aren't we"

He smiled wildly at me. As we ate we talked about this, and that. Even about some of the other evidence we caught at the asylum. Zak tiptoed around this subject though.

Now after dinner it was finally time to find out where on earth Zak was gonna take me for 'part two' of our date as he called it. He lead me to his car opening the door for me. How sweet I thought as he closed my door. I leaned over and pushed his door open for him before he could. He got in smiling as he started the car.

"So where are we going?" I couldn't wait any longer but apparently I'd have to

"Not yet." He replied with a charming smirk.

After driving for 15 minutes Zak pulled out a blindfold.

"You have to put this on" he said lightly.

"What are you taking me to the damn Bat Cave." I giggled as I began to be a good sport and slip the blindfold over my eager eyes.

Not even 4 minutes later we pulled up somewhere, and the car stopped.

Zak said "wait a minute."

As I heard his door open and he walked over to mine opening it. I felt his hand grab mine as he helped me out of the car, blindfold still secure.

Zak held my hand as he lead me forward. I felt the blushing continue. I was so excited to know where we were. It was quiet, very quiet. I felt gravel under my feet suddenly. Then we stopped walking.

"Alright you can look" Zak said as the blindfold flew off not a second later. I looked to see we were in front of a building. It wasn't abandoned but it wasn't kept for or operating anymore. It was an orphanage. The West Williams Orphanage.

I looked finally to Zak who was smiling and looking at the building.

"Zak, what are we gonna do here?" I asked half sure I knew the answer I was going to get.

Zak looked over at me with his charming eyes he said "I'm going to take you on a Private Ghost Adventures Experience. Hopefully this will make up for the asylum lockdown, but this lockdown were only staying until 12" It was already 7 and the sun was setting.

"Ahh" I simply said in reply. I thought, this is the sweetest thing, our date is him making up for that horrible demon attack. He was right, I've never had a date like this.

"Do you like it" he asked waiting for my response.

"Zak it's the best idea ever." I said smiling up at him.

Zak had been standing slightly behind me, I felt his arms wrap around my waist as he leaned to whisper in my ear "this time I won't let anything hurt you." He whispered it softly, my cheeks felt like they were on fire. I turned to face Zak, with his arms still around my waist. I looked up at him sweetly "I know." I simply said.

Zak looked with a smile

"Let's do this." He grabbed a bag filled with equipment and used the key he was given to unlock the building.

On our first date, Zak took me into the dark old building to begin our investigation. This is gonna be fun I thought as he locked the door behind us.
