Indie's pov
I hear the sounds of my clicking heels walking out the front door and I watch Harry's head turn to my direction from his car after I shut the door and lock it behind me, keeping the spare keys with me.
I hesitantly and slowly walk to his car, hoping I won't fall over my own feet in the process. Only because of these heels. As I make it to the door and open it up for myself, he seems to be taken back.
"Why are you wearing that?" He looks at me with a curious expression, I can't tell if he's scolding me for what I'm wearing or genuinely curious, I frown looking down at my outfit.
"I.. Ruth helped me pick it out." I shutter biting my lip, unsure what he's thinking right now, I jump in the passengers seat and clip my seatbelt on.
"Oh.. it's different, you look different." He takes another look at me and our eyes meet for a small amount of time before I look away.
"Yeah well.. it's a party, it's coming off later anyway." His head shoots my direction, I can see the smirk appearing on his face and I can tell he has too many thoughts shooting though his head. "I..I mean because I'm going in the pool."
"Mm, sure that's what you meant."
"It is." I confirm.
"So.. are you getting all the alcohol now?" Louis said that he was getting alcohol on the way from picking me up, he shakes his head.
"I went and got it before, it's all in the back." He points back to the back and I start to hear the clinking of bottles as he turns some corners of sharp streets.
"Is your family going to be at the party?" I ask feeling slightly more curious about the whole event.
"Hell no." He gives me a shocked expression. "I don't want anything to do with them and they sure as hell don't like me when I'm around."
"Oh." It's all I can manage to get out at first, but all I can think about is how loving his family could be, or how they might not be? What if they are the reason he is so rude, what if they were abusive? I can't allow myself to go there, instead I need to try and give him some closure.
"I'm sure your family—"
"Don't even try that bullshit, seriously." He stops me, I bite my lip and don't say anything.
Maybe I shouldn't have said anything.
"Sorry." I mumble, he keeps driving for a while and we sit there in silence, no music or radio. It makes me want to take out my present and show him, hoping to spark up some sort of mood for him that's anything other than rude or miserable. I decide against it though, I'd rather him find the present later and hopefully enjoy listening to it when he has time.
"My dad doesn't see me much, he is always working.. or complaining about things, or he will be watching tv." I tell him, letting him in on a little piece of information he thought he knew about me, I remember him saying my parents are happy, strict and it's not true. They're anything but happy, my mum is kind of carrying everything on her shoulders while my dad is sitting back doing nothing, or at work. They hardly speak but we decided to move here, I mean it was exciting but it hasn't changed much, not between them at least.
"Why are you telling me this?" He rubs his eyes as he continues to drive down the road, we're close to the frat house.
"Because, you should know you're not the only one with family problems. That I'm here if you want to—"
"To talk about it? With you?" He makes some sort of scoffing sound that's mixed with a sarcastic laugh.
"You know what, don't worry about it." Roll my eyes, I turn my body to look out the window and don't stare at him, he doesn't say anything back. I seriously don't know why I try so hard with him.
