I peeled open my eyes. I was in the car, last I remember I was on the floor. The sky was dark with scattered stars that look like sprinkles on a cupcake. I sat up and looked at E. He was driving.
"What are you doing? Where are we going?" Why was E driving this early in the morning? And why didn't he wake me up? I could have walked to the car myself.
"We're going to the airport. I checked the tickets and the plane boards at 5:30." I stared at E. He was driving me to the airport, the boy who didn't want to go woke up this early to drive him and me there. He could have just left me lying on the floor.
"E, I'm really sorry about yesterday. I was selfish and I was mean." I looked away to hide my embarrassment.
"I get it, Sadie. You don't want to live and watch all of your friends die." He took my hand and held it the whole drive to the airport.
The red little car pulled into the B parking garage. We unloaded our luggage and shut up the car. We went through security and into the terminal to wait. The plane boarded at exactly 5:30. The plane was small. There were about 13 other passengers besides Ethan and me. Unlike the big commercial planes that have three seats to a side, this plane had two on one side, and one on the other. After takeoff, Ethan fell asleep on my shoulder. I couldn't, my ears hurt too bad. There was a slight ringing and I couldn't even hear myself talk. The flight was long. I had a massive headache and my ears hurt so bad that it felt as if someone was cutting them off. I poked Ethan.
"Ethan I don't feel good," I whispered which to him was probably a yell.
"What do you mean?" He rubbed his eyes and looked at me.
"My ears are killing me and I have a massive headache."
"Well you're chewing gum so you can't do anything about your ears until we land and you can't do anything about a headache either unless you have medicine which you don't." He sat in the aisle seat, looking past me out the window. I guess someone is still a little salty. He fell back asleep only to wake up again when we landed on the runway. We got our bags from the baggage claim and got into the black rental car. We crammed all of the luggage into the trunk. I took the passenger seat. I could barely drive my car, I was not about to drive a rental.Hope you all enjoy this story!
