The elevator started to sway. The cords groaned. I'm gonna die, this is it. I braced myself. The elevator tilted to one side, then the other. A cord snapped, a second followed. I looked up at the security camera. My stomach lurched as the elevator floor plunged to the bottom of the shaft. I screamed. I covered my ears with my eyes and sat on the elevator floor in a ball. This isn't happening, this is not happening! The elevator stopped and slammed into the shaft walls. My head banged against the floor. Why did it stop? I'm not complaining though. The lights flickered on and off. I peeled myself off the elevator floor. My eyes wandered to the hole in the top of the elevator. A young man's head was poking through it. I jumped back. I tore off my shoe and threw it at the man. He moved right as the shoe went left.
"Is this what you do to thank the person saving you?" He dropped into the elevator. His red hair fell into his gold eyes. I caught my breath.
"First of all, I have no idea who the heck you are and secondly the last time I tried to trust some random person I almost got myself killed!" I backed up.
"Yeah well, you can trust me. I'll explain later."
"No, you'll explain now!" I stepped forward ready to challenge him.
"Sadie if I explain now we might as well be dead." He knew my name...did Ethan tell him? He pulled on my hand and climbed back on top of the elevator shaft. He pulled me up and leaped to a hole in the wall. I stood on top of the elevator. He reached out his hands.
"Sadie you need to jump!" He screamed.
"There is no way I'm jumping!" I yelled back. The elevator began to sway again, a  cord snapped hitting me on the arm, drawing a thick line of blood to creep through my torn up sweater. Another cord snapped slapping me across the face, leaving a bloody mark on my cheekbone. One cord left, I stepped back to the edge of the elevator, took a breath, ran full speed and jumped. The elevator plunged to the bottom of the shaft as I was mid-air. I was starting to fall and was nowhere near reaching the hole. The guy reached out as far as he could. He got ahold of my wrists, accidentally slamming me into the wall of the shaft. He pulled me into the hole. I fell on top of him and pushed myself off immediately.
"We have to find Ethan!" I looked both ways.
"Okay." The guy stood up and turned right. It led out into a lobby of an some abandoned place, probably a hotel basing on the counter and couches. He kept running down another hallway and into one of the rooms. I followed him, guessing he was the best chance I had at finding Ethan. He sped pass what used to be a counter but was now decaying and the living room that had holes in the flooring and couches that were torn apart. Man this guy moves fast! He raced into the bathroom and pulled back the rotting shower curtain to find Ethan in the tub. I pushed passed the guy and knelt beside it. Oh my gosh!
