The wind chills within our bodies and the snow eating our feet with the level as our ankles isn’t helping. What’s worse is being wrong about my accusation… I guess she gets to say the “I told you so” quote. More is that Tara asked me to get some ingredients and seeing childhood friend being beaten to the ground somehow makes me more uncomfortable. His orb from his mace is starting to break from using or receiving too much magic. If it’s gone, he’s completely defenseless… his shield was already broken but now, it’s time to use mine to defend him.

Chapter XV: A Cleric's Role (Edan)

Both of us went in front of Jake as I make a defensive stance and Angelica aids him.

“Jake, are you okay?” She kneeled beside him. He tries to stand up making him squat a little. Angelica lends her arms to him. “Don’t try to stand up!”

“I have to fight him,” Jake removed her arms. “I need to get what he has.” He charged and passed through me. Jumps and smashed his wand down near Cedric then four lighting emits on the ground to four opposite directions. It was incredible that he doesn’t need to speak the words but to just use his skill. Even though that the two lightning hits Cedric, he was still not affected instead a dark cloud underneath him showed and he floats away as this dark cloud seems to also damage Jake. Raising Cedric’s hand to him, a dark lightning bolt was about to hit him until Jake casted. “Keravnó!” He pointed his mace to him but before a single lightning was released, the orb from his mace shattered and he can now take the full hit of the dark magic. Good thing was that I was going towards near him before his orb was broken so I used my shield to defend him. The pushback effect of his lightning was good that I hit Jake with my back as he stumble and fall but I still kept standing.

     “Sorry.” I said to Jake.

Angelica went nearer to my side and looked at Cedric. “You’ll pay for that. Dilitrio Pyravliki!” She casted and a green poisonous pool were casted from her staff to his feet.

That affected him a little but he still was able to get out floating away with his dark cloud. “That’s not enough.” He said as he raised his hand and was about to cast a dark lightning bolt. I pushed Angelica out of the way and pulled myself back quickly… it was surprising that his lightning bolt spread between us and we were both pushed back to the opposite directions with some little injuries. “Gah…” He was on his knees. “… why do you have to go against me!?” He started shouting and held his head like he was stricken on the head.

By the time we had time to get up, Cedric was already running and Angelica was chasing him slowly from her confusion. “Come back!” She says as she keeps firing some spells.

“Wait, Angelica!” I cried and tried to follow her. But I noticed that Jake was heavily injured and I went near him. Pointing my arm to him, I casted a heal to recover from his injuries but Jake’s injuries is mixed with dark magic, it will take a while to fully heal him… maybe three more times from my level. “What happened?”

Jake tried to answer with his shaking body. “The culprit evinced himself when I saw him walking towards this way with the Vision Orb. I thought I can beat him, but the dark power of the Dragon Follower flow all over him. You can see that his lightning bolt is stronger than any priest.”

“Yeah I noticed.” I replied. “His bolt spread between us. It’s very different, let’s just hope that I can beat him with my basic class, a cleric versus a priest.”

“I think that Angelica girl can take care of herself now, I see Cedric quite damaged.” He said… and I completely agree so no problem here now but to wait for her to comeback right? “Reminds me, how did you enter the Templar Knights without going through a Job Advancement?” He asked.

Statement that he said made me stop for a while caught me thinking. “I um… won on a tournament.”

“…” We were both silent for a second.

“Anyways, since Angelica can take care of Cedric, I’ll just get the ingredients that Sorceress Tara asked me to.”

“Sure, I can take care of myself from here.” He said. “You’ve done enough from healing me.” He then smiled.

Leaving the conversation without another word, I went to where Angelica is going where I can also find those mushrooms. It was so silent that my mind kept on wanting me to think.

Back then when I became a Templar Knight, before I came to Saint Haven… me and my Dad lived here in Mana Ridge, so remembering my way back was easy and part of these share a lot of memories. I remember walking here with my Dad, training me to lead my dream as a Templar Knight. He was always scolding me about my skills and how I preform in combat, teaching me about survival and stuff kind of ruined my childhood. He took away my childhood, but the only fun that I had got was from my friends… and my best childhood friend was Jake. He was like a brother to me, always helping me perfecting the skills and sometimes some awesome lightning skills which I still can’t create (jealous now). It was sudden that we had to go to Saint Haven when my Dad was asked to protect the King. I never knew my mother back then and I left all my friends to follow my dreams and the question remains… were those worth it?

There’s nothing that I can do about it now. As some people said, what’s done is done. It took me a while of thinking that I’ve finally saw the mushrooms that Sorceress Tara needed or her “so called” potion. These big and blue polka-dotted mushrooms are quite fascinating and are like a marshmallow that you wanted to chew all day. My gosh, it’s so hard to pull these things… why does she even need these? Just a little bit more then I’m going to think about the good stuff about life like Angelica finally arresting Cedric, get my friendship back with Jake, remembering what Sorceress Tara said to be careful about pulling the mushrooms because it releases spores if you breathe on them you’ll be on a deep sleep… wait what?!

Forgetting the warning that Tara said, I pulled the mushrooms and spores spread enough covering that greenish yellow muffled gas to the air as I breathe on it. Starting to lost consciousness, I quickly went away to the place I pulled it to avoid breathing them and finally I lay down on the cold snow.

I sleep like a drunken man with my limbs far apart from each other.
