Bloody dreams

The next morning the house was a hectic storm of yelled demands. Everyone was running around as though their head were cut off. Rowdy and undocile is how I described it, as I sat on the couch, observing them.

In the kitchen, the fresh smell of sizzling bacon shot up my nostrils and from the bathroom, down the hall the sound of water pelts hitting against the porcelain bathtub, and the low hum of Soda's voice rang through all the commotion.

Two-bit cackled like a witch at the television that played a rerun of a game show that was on the previous night.

Steve shuffled through the fridge and took out a chocolate cake. Licking his lips and rubbing his hands together as he prepared to devour his slice.

Ponyboy screamed throughout the house asking if anyone has seen his math book. Which Darry boomingly replied telling him to find it or he's going to have some problems.

The only other person in the house that was quiet was Johnny, who patiently sat beside me waiting for Ponyboy to hurry up, so they could make it to school on time.

"Johnny?" I spoke for the first time this morning.

"Yeah?" He replied, now facing me. His dark brown chocolate eyes staring straight into mine, causing my stomach to churn.

"Wanna go outside?" I shyly asked and gazed down at my feet.

"Sure." He agreed and stood up from the couch and headed outside, with me following suit.

Once outside we both sit on the green bench that rested there. The annoying sounds of dogs barking and the chilly, pleasant breeze made me quiver. "Johnny," I said and looked at him. "What do you know about Dallas?"

"Well.." He started, thinking of a good answer. "Dally's tough, he can take on any Soc. He got's a reputation to hold up I guess. He's always I'm jail too; he just got out not even a week ago. I think it was because of-"

Everything else he said became a blur to my ears when I saw a little girl standing by a light post down the street. She had short blonde hair and wore a white dress. She was very pale too, almost as white as a ghost.

I wanted to walk over to her but stayed still. Reverting my attention to Johnny, he was looking at me quizzically. "What were you staring at?" He asked peering over my shoulder.

"Oh, a little girl is standing over there-." I cut myself off when I turned around, only to find the little girl had now vanished into thin air. In sudden apprehension, I frantically looked around for her. "I promise I'm not crazy, but I saw her. She had blonde hair and pale skin."

Johnny only nodded, I could tell that he didn't believe me. "But-Just-Nevermind." I sighed and slumped back in the seat. Johnny looked at me pitifully then shook his head.

I wanted to say something to testify that I wasn't crazy, but nothing was to be announced. I could not think of any possible explanation for this.

We sat there in awkward silence until Steve dashed out the door screaming: 'Soda! We're gonna be late because of you!" Followed by Soda retorting back with "My pants won't zip up!" Which I laughed at.

In due time, Soda eventually zipped up his pants and came outside, followed by Darry, Two-bit, and Pony. "We're ya' guys going?" I stood up from the green bench, wondering if I was staying here or not. "Pony, Johnny, and Two are going to school, while me, Steve, and Soda are headin' to work," Darry explained. "You wanna come? I don't think you'd like to stay home in your lonesome."

I beamed, happy that I wasn't staying here alone.

Quickly, I say my goodbye's to Johnny, Pony, and Two and hop in Darry's old pick-up. Since there were only three seats, I had to sit on Soda's lap as we went along.
