Harry
Nothing ever happens at school, until today.
We're a relatively small school, pretty much everyone knows each other so a new face is easily recognizable.
However this new kid is different, he walks through the halls looking just upset with everything. It's not the same anger that a new kid would have, it seems deeper. He's stuck in his mind and I have a feeling that whatever he's thinking about isn't pretty. I can easily tell that he doesn't want whatever it is to slip.
I have a feeling that he's brilliant and can't grasp and of his thoughts or is hiding a deep dark secret. Whatever it is, I want to figure it out, he's too amazing to just let go. I could honestly just watch him sit there for hours and that's a quality that I have found in very people. It's one that should definitely be preserved, people like that are like a beautiful piece of art.
Being an artist myself I'm always looking for inspiration. He could be the hero in a book or have a landscape picture painted of him, the ideas are endless. Something about him just screams "discover what I'm about".
I take one last glance at him and turn back to my table of friends. This school is small enough that at least one of them has to have had a class with him. It'll help the inviting him to sit with us part somewhat more comfortable. He'll probably want a familiar face, he seems uncomfortable around all these new people.
"Do any of you know who that new kid is?" I point towards him and then look back at them. "He's the small one with the scruffy brown hair."
My friend Shane nods his head and folds his hands on top of the table. "His name is Louis, we have biology together. He's very quiet, didn't tell us too many details about where he was from or about himself."
Louis. The name just seems so childish to fit with him, he seems so much darker than an upbeat Louis. Maybe I'm just judging him too early on, but it just doesn't fit. Once I get to talk to him it might make sense, however that requires him talking to me.
"Louis!" I call across the lunchroom, catching his attention. He cocks an eyebrow and points at himself awkwardly. I nod my head and his eyes bug out of his face at the thought of being picked to sit with people. "Come and sit with us."
Cautiously he walks over, his knuckles turning white from clutching onto his tray. I notice that they're slightly bruised which may account for his quietness. On the other hand though, it could show a hidden side of aggression. There's so many possibilities for how he can be, but all he has to do is open my mouth and I can find it out.
Right now I really need to make the right impression on him, I don't want to scare him off. I'm sort of an artsy outcast type and have the tendency to come on a little strong. He needs someone to feel comfortable around and open up to, break down his guarded walls.
Louis puts his tray down and swings his legs around the edge of the table. He stays looking down at his tray, not making eye contact with any of us. "Hey mate, nice to see you again." Shane pokes trying to get Louis a bit interactive. All he gets in response is a nod, which I can tell gets on his nerves, Shane's a loud outgoing theatre kid who isn't great which silence.
"I'm Harry," Still no response from Louis. "I noticed that you had nowhere to sit and I know that it sucks being the new kid." He looks up at the term new kid and turns and stares at me. "Although school is basically hell, this school is small so you'll know everyone in no time."
He takes a small bite of food at then swallows it slowly. "I've been to ten different schools in the past few years, I don't really spend my time getting to know people." Louis murmurs, and takes another bite of food. Then he solemnly looks down at his tray, proving my point that he's hiding something.
