Opening his eyes again, the smell of rustic dresser wood and the muffled sound of jazz music filled his senses. He quickly hopped up off the bed he found himself on, and fixed what looked to be an expensive silk suit he had on.
''What the hell?'', he thought as he looked around.
He was surrounded by several stories of bookshelves filled with books, copiers, and newspapers. The fresh coat of beige and nude paint as pungent as can be through his nostrils. The grand see-through curtains had been opened, allowing the natural white and yellow light come through and illuminate the room as he sheided his eyes.
''This looks like...Mr. Montroll's office.'', he said struggling to get up, but quickly dropping to his knees.
''Oh my are you alright?!''
Wincing at the pain and somehow managing to open his eyes, his eyes widened with recognition at the pale blonde haired lady.
''Adries?''
She batted her lashes blanky, tilting her head in confusion.
''I'm so sorry Mr. Montroll. Are you feeling any better? I decided to come on over here to check up on you.'', she smiled.
A million thought went through head, but the only one puzzling him at the moment was why she had just called him Montroll? And how did he end up in his office?
''Um I...I think.'', Prince responded still feeling the sharp pain in both his knees and head. ''But can you tell me what happened? Or at least how I got here?''
She kicked at the floor lightly with her heel and placed a hand over her mouth as if to prevent a muffled shy giggle escape her lips.
''Adries why are you acting like this, don't you remember me? Don't you know who I am? And what's so funny?''
''Well...'', she smiled, ''my guess was you had a little too much to drink and brought a couple of ladies with you in here. They complained that you suddenly fell down and passed out so we allowed you to get some rest.''
''I passed out from a fall of becoming too intoxicated?''
She nodded.
Contemplating the thought, he brushed past her towards the door hearing the music get louder. A full live jazz band, rich gentlemen and flapper-like ladies dressed in their finest attire sipping on tall glasses of champagne filled the room. The sounds of socializing, hearty and light laughter, and jeers from the the band ecarougered a party in his heart.
''Why do you seem so confused?'', he heard Adreis ask from behind him. ''Maybe you need more rest-''
''No!'', Prince shrieked pushing her back. ''I need you to tell me what the hell's going on?''
Another small giggled escaped her lips a she extended her arms out to the people.
''Don't you see? It's your surprise party/baby celebration!'', she exclaimed as all attention fell on him.
The crowd turned around in his direction and cheered as familiar and unfamiliar faces crowded around him.
''Don't mind him my dear, I think he's still a bit over moon from the fall. You alright son?'', Mr. Montroll asked as he guided him further into the party.
The office looks way different than it did before with it's glazed rustic walls that used inhabited cobwebs, the smell of expensive perfume, and a sudden golden yellow glow bestowed everywhere he turned. And Mr. Fulton didn't look a day over 40, with a smile from ear to ear on his face and a silk suit. Prince almost couldn't believe his ears when he actually the word son leave his mouth.
