"What the fuck, man?" he quietly scolded me. Zayn being angry was actually quite scary, his bright yellow eyes gleaming. I nibbled on my bottom lip, trying to think before I spoke.

"A mortal? Are you serious?" I nodded at his words. He placed his hand on my shoulder and pulled my eyes from the floor. "I'll treat her, but you can't let any other doctor see her, and the second she's ok, you have to take her home and DO NOT bring her back." he said rubbing his temples.

"I'm sorry." I whispered, still nervous. My hands shook the entire ambulance drive here, and I was scared to death.

"It's ok Niall. Just..... don't do it again." I nodded and he disappeared behind the hospital curtain. I breathed and ran my fingers through my hair, ready to finally go back in that room. I couldn't stay in there, no matter how hard I tried while they cleaned her up. Zayn's fiancé was his nurse, and she's actually super nice, so she figured out Tristan's secret.

I curled my fingers around the curtain and pulled it open enough to slide past, but not to give a look to the rest of the world. She passed out a long time ago, and Zayn told me that it was just pain intolerance, nothing big. Obviously it had to be a lot of pain, but other than that, I had no idea what was going on.

I stepped slowly, taking a good look at Tris. Her eyes were closed, but she looked the polar opposite of serene. Her nose was scrunched, and eyes shut tight. I sighed and kept moving towards the chair next to her bed. Perrie-Zayn's fiancé- was cleaning cuts and we made eye contact, and she flashed a small smile, and I returned with only a slight nod.

Tristan's arms had a total of six cuts on them, I counted. I couldn't see her legs, but because Perrie wasn't cleaning them I figured there weren't really ones there.

I noticed Tristan wasn't lying completely flat, and I got incredibly confused, until I saw Zayn scoot over with a needle and stitches.

I felt the air squeeze out of my lungs and I silently gasped for air, seeing of how horribly Tristan was injured. I fought for my lungs to fill again and again, but each time it seemed as if the squeeze only got tighter.

Zayn's eyes found mine and he pulled down his mouth covering.

"We aren't allowed to have people in while I stitch up, so sorry mate, you'll have to wait outside." he said. I gulped and nodded slowly, and dragging my feet out the door.

I walked down a couple steps before stopping dead in my tracks, leaning against the wall, sliding down it, and losing it.

-----

The waiting room was silent at this time of night, besides the usual drunk and creep laying around without a home. My eyes were puffy and my voice hoarse from losing my mind in the hallway outside her door.

A nurse had helped me to the waiting room where I cried my eyes out harder than I ever have before. My hair was wicked, sticking out in every direction. I felt I didn't have any energy left in me, yet it would be impossible to ever sleep.

Foot tapped waiting impatiently for news I could see her from Zayn. I took out my phone and checked the time; only two minutes since I last checked, 12:06 am. It was unusual for Zayn to stay past six, but he helped and I heard them talking and I heard he'd have tomorrow and the next day off.

I jumped at the touch on my shoulder, so when I looked up and saw Zayn giving me a giggly grin, I rolled my eyes, knowing he wouldn't be able to joke if she wasn't ok. I sat still, waiting to hear about her.

"She's awake, I don't know how much you'll get out of her, but you can talk." he said quietly. The second I heard she's awake, I jumped from my seat, and I saw the smile on Zayn's face grow.

"Thank you so much mate." I said as I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed the living daylights out of him.

He chuckled and I dropped him, nearly running to her room. I cracked my knuckles before I entered her door, because I realized I sat with my fingers laced together for a couple hours.

I swung open the door and stopped in the doorway, fighting myself from running and jumping on to her bed and hugging her until she couldn't breathe. She must have seen me stiffen up, and she chuckled.

"Get your ass over here and hug me." she said opening her arms. I jumped out of my position and ran to her side, squeezing hard but not so much to hurt her. Well, I'm sure her entire body hurt.

"Oh my god." I quietly said, thinking about this whole thing. She laughed and leaned back against her throne of pillows, sighing shallowly as she did so.

I sat back in the chair next to her and took her hand in my own. I didn't care what she thought, I needed for my own sake. Zayn came through the door calmly, and smiled when he saw us together.

"She has some pretty nasty cuts, and those burns were pretty awful, but she'll be okay in bout two months." he said checking his clipboard. "Of course she'll have to stay here for about three days, but that'll go quickly." he said setting down his clipboard and exiting the room again.

"Ring me if you need something." Perrie spoke up and sweetly exited the room. I took this time to look over at Tris, who sat serenely on the bed now. Her eyes were closed, and she looked exhausted.

"You tired?" I questioned. Her eyes snapped open as if she were just about to doze off.

"What? no!" she laughed, rubbing her eyes and yawning. "Okay maybe a little." she said. I nodded and rubbed my thumb over her hands and now only noticed the burns on her wrists that were lightly wrapped up.

"What... what happened?" I choked on my words, suddenly feeling sick. Her smile left instantly and the shine in her eyes left as well. She didn't look at me while she talked, but instead straight ahead.

"Umm... those are from these metal cuffs that just burned me, but no big deal." she said shrugging only slightly. I noticed her breathing was shallow and looked painful.

"Does it hurt to breathe?" I asked out of the blue. Again she just shrugged and wouldn't look at me. I hooked my free hand under her chin and turned her gaze to mine. Her eyes looked a light grey, almost lifeless.

"Tell me the truth, Tris." I said. I saw her eyes flicker to my lips and slightly part, but she spoke and looked me back in the eyes.

"A little, yes." she said, turning her head away, leaving my hand empty, so I put it down. Our other hands that were connected just laid there, accepting the comfort of each other.

"You should sleep." I said quietly, checking the time and seeing how awfully tired she was.

"Ya, ok." She agreed, laying her head back on the pillows and biting her lip, taking one single sharp breath of pain before relaxing and peeking over at my concerned face. She smiled weakly, and closed her eyes, but still talked a little.

"You should sleep too." she said raising her eye brows but leaving them closed.

"Ya, ok." I said mocking her voice. She smiled and shook her head, comforting me a little more. I couldn't help but take this second to look at her.

Not just look at her, but look at her.

Look as in memorize the perfect details of her face and breath in the sweet smell of her presence and just let your body take in everything to remember this moment for as long as you could.

Every second of this moment was perfect, and to forget it would be the end of me, so I just took her in.

She just has it. I can't tell you what it is, but it's the best thing, and you know because the only way to describe it is, 'I love you'.

And I want whatever it is.
