Chapter 4

I walk out to the water alone yet not afraid. I know what will happen to my legs but what else?

"Ok Mallory, you can do this.... just walk into the waves....." Me and my mom had always lived next to the ocean. She told me it helped her feel close to my father. Now I know why. My toes reach the cool, misty water. The sun has set and the moon reflects off the glimmering goo. I'm as ready as I can get. I leap into the water and feel my legs becoming one. Alright here we go. I open my eyes and I can see. Wait, I can see? I can see! I CAN SEE UNDERWATER!!! I'm so shocked until I look down. Again I see my tail but more clearly now. It has seashell designs embroidered all around it.

"It's beautiful!" I say. Wait, did I just talk clearly underwater? Oh wow! I guess being a mermaid is AM A Z I N G! I swim deeper into the ocean until all I can see is black. I can't see see anything! I try to see but it's too dark. Then I see it. A boy ,maybe my age, swims up to me with a lantern. How is that lantern working underwater? When he gets closer, I can see that he has blonde hair and green eyes.

"Hey, you shouldn't be down here. Lets go back to the town. I'll take you back to your home".

I swim with him for a while when I finally decide to talk.

"So, what's your name?"

"Brady. You?"

"Mallory. So how much longer until we get to.... where we are going?"

"We're here". I look and see a bright town almost floating on the ocean floor. It's so beautiful.

"Woah.."

"What? Have you never been outside of these walls before? I mean, since you were way outside of here".

"Oh, no I've been out here before... I've just never thought it was so beautiful".

He smiles at me. I notice his teeth are pearly white and straight. He is soooo lucky. My teeth are spaced apart. That's why I have braces. I've always hated teeth. And I'm not even going to mention dentists.. Ugh.

"Hey, come on lets go through the back gate". I follow him through the gate and I finally see his tail. It's green with a big gash in the side. I can tell that it's healed but it still looks horrid.

"What happened?"

"Oh, shark attack. You know, when Tryan came. His sharks attacked me. But its fine. I'm healing. Trust me it's ok".

"Alright". Now, who was Tyran?
