The Tail About Me

Chapter 9

The sand is right beneath my tail when I notice that nobody sees me. I am a mermaid how do they not notice me! I'm used to not bring noticed as a regular teenage girl but i'm a mermaid now.

"Brady, why are they not noticing me?" I ask as I try to stand on my tail to the best of my ability.

"Well, have you ever heard the saying 'You can only see if you believe'? That is the truth in this instance."

"Oh ok, so they can't hear me either?"

"No they can hear you. But we are on a beach with a few people so they think it's the norm talking." I think it's funny that he said "norm." Because I mean I am a norm and he doesn't know yet! My heart Is racing as I feel my tail feeling a breeze. I wonder how Brady will react to my secret. Will he still want to help me save my mother?

"Ok Brady. Here I go...." My tail transforms into two skinny tan legs. I'm glad that I'm wearing my sundress because it would so embarrassing if I was butt naked in front of a beach where people are watching. Brady's face tells me that he is shocked. His gorgeous green eyes were huge as I turned around so he could see my full profile.

"Mallory. I i I I have to go...." Brady swims away back into the deep dark ocean. My eyes are as wet as the salty water in my hair. Brady left me. He is gone. There is no way that I could even catch up to him because I'm so exhausted after swimming and trying to save my mom. By now, I bet Brady is far away warning the village and sanitizing everything I touched. I thought he was my friend. I thought I was his friend. My heart is totally crushed. My mother is being imprisoned by a man named Tryan(my father!!!) and my only friend in the water had abandoned me.

I turn around to walk back to my house to wake up the babysitter when I am suddenly stopped by a fiercefull grip on the arm.

"Oh, Mallory. If only you truley knew..."
