Chapter 19

I start to cry because I'm just so upset. Tyran is such a jerk. He doesn't know what real love is. He only knows how to force people to love. I swim over to a yellow fish and it swims away. My life can't get any worse. I am all a lone. I take a seat on a large rock that is overlooking a huge cliff underwater. The deeper down it goes, the darker the water would get. I decide not to go down there in fear of a large fish eating me alive. So I just sit there. And cry. And think about my life. Then, I hear the sound of trumpets coming from the distance.

"Hello?" My voice has changed a bit since I first found out I was a mermaid. I swim toward the sounds faster and faster. Then I see bright lights and people, I mean mermaids, swimming around. Where an i? I have no clue where. As I search around the community I find a sign that read Vidson. That must be the name of the town. Vidson. I can't help feeling that it is familiar... Outside of the place there were guards protecting a big circle. It looked like a force field that covered the whole place. There is a guard about every 5 feet. I wonder why they are protecting it. I swim over to the outside of the force field and start talking to one of the female guards.
"Hi. I'm.." I figure I shouldn't tell her my real name," Im Jessie."
"Good for you." The guard said.
"Thanks? Anyways, what is your name?"
"That is personal."
"Uh, okay.." I'm starting to feel even more alone even though I am with people. I'm just glad I have people to talk to.
"Why are you all protecting this city?"
"Tyran is on the loose. He escaped prison a few years ago. However, he stole a child from her community called Ra. They are our neighboring city west of here. We received warning that he was only a few miles away."
"Wait, Tyran?"
"Yes."
"Do you know what the girls name was?"
"I believe it was Mallory."
"Mallory?"
"Yes kid! Stop asking questions or we will throw ya in the slammer!"
"Okay I'm sorry. But one more question."
"Ugh!"
"Where is Mallory's mother?"
