the customer is always right.

——

jihyo sighed as she took yet another order from a customer, this day couldn't get any normal than it is.

it was a daily thing for jihyo, faking smiles and always tending to customers in a cheerful manner, but jihyo admits, she hates her job.

if it weren't for her expenses in college, she wouldn't have been here, infront of various customers, ranging from annoying to just a simple 'meh' from jihyo.

usually, she'd remember familiar faces, and could easily determine if they were regulars, which mostly are. it's been a long time since she's seen a newcomer, she couldn't even remember when that last time was.

as she finished the line of customers, she rested her head on her hand, elbow on the table, as she waited for the next order.

"jihyo, rough day?" nayeon asked, nudging a sleepy jihyo, and all jihyo could answer was a groan.

"it's always a rough day for her." mina snickered, patting jihyo's back.

she couldn't be angry at her friends, it's just their way of comforting. what could she do?

"gee, thanks for your concerns, i appreciate it." jihyo just rolled her eyes, focusing on the door as she waited for another customer.

the clock struck three, only another hour 'til her shift ends, she absolutely can't wait to get out of this chair, flop on her bed, and sleep.

five minutes passed, still no signs of new customers. the café was still full, with regulars and some students studying.

jihyo chuckled, she remembers herself, struggling in studying. procrastination was always her bestfriend. her mind once again floats, and she didn't bother focusing anymore.

ding, the bell chimed, but jihyo didn't hear. she was too busy daydreaming to notice the boy walking towards the counter.

jihyo couldn't care less, until a hand snapped in front of her face, making her go back to the real world. jihyo shook her head, and as she opened her eyes, infront of her was a man, not too tall, and not too short either, a messy minty hair, and eyes framed with eyeglasses, showing a genuine smile.

he isn't a regular, jihyo hasn't seen him before.

"hello." the boy greeted, making jihyo snap out of it once again.

"oh-uh. good day, sir. what would you like?" the stutter wasn't necessary, but like what was said earlier, it has been long since a new customer came, with how hidden this café is, the only ones who knew were the regulars.

"you." he exclaimed. jihyo's eyes widened, she wasn't sure if it was the hot coffee, or it was just the heat that made her cheeks redden.

"e-excuse me?" jihyo asked, stuttering once again as she was flustered at his sudden answer.

"you're pretty. i'm serious. i want you." jihyo has never encountered a person so straightforward, well not until now.

jihyo just laughed, convinced that he was joking. "alright. stop with the lies, please." but he just blinked.

"what do you mean? the customer is always right." he smirked. jihyo is taken aback by this new guy, randomly entering the café and hitting up on her.

"o-kay, mr..." jihyo trailed off, she didn't know his name, and mr. glasses, a nickname by jihyo, sensed it.

"yoongi. the name's yoongi." and he smiled once again.

jihyo cleared her throat, "alright, mr. yoongi," she preferred mr. glasses, but this would do.

"if you are just here to hit on me, you may take your leave. have a nice day." she shooed him off, but he won't budge.

he sighed, his smile still not fading, "guess i'm ordering then." he simply stated. jihyo couldn't do anything, he was a customer after all.

after a minute of thinking, yoongi had finally ordered, "coming right up, sir glass- yoongi. sir yoongi." jihyo still had to respect her customers, letting out a forced smile before turning around and letting mina make his order.

she expected him to sit somewhere once she turns around, but no, he's still there, smiling like the idiot he is. jihyo just rolled her eyes again, sitting at her chair.

"will your shift end soon?" yoongi asked, and jihyo found it weird. from his looks, he doesn't look like a stalker.

"no." jihyo simply stated, earning a look from him. he was convinced, but nayeon had to butt in.

"sweetie her shift's going to end in a few minutes." nayeon winked at the two, finding it fun to tease her younger friend.

jihyo slammed her head on the table, she really wanted to disown her friend now. ("no, the universe won't allow that." nayeon simply answered, flipping her hair. "yeah, sure, how'd you know?" and jihyo knows where this is leading. "because i'm the universe!", nayeon proclaimed.)

seconds later, mina came with the order yoongi asked. "hey jihyo, i think it's time you clock out now." mina didn't really hear their conversation, and nayeon just chuckled as soon as mina said that, but immediately straightened herself and went with the flow, "yes, mina and i can handle it. now off you go~" she pushed jihyo towards the staff room, and jihyo knows she can't do anything anymore.

once jihyo was out of sight, nayeon's investigation has begun, "so, mr. minty" nayeon eyed the guy, who just seemed confused of what was going on.

"uh-it's yoongi." yoongi tried to correct her, but the bunny just shushed him.

"alright, why are you suddenly interested on our jihyo? come to think of it, you're new here, i haven't seen you before!" nayeon suspiciously glanced at the guy infront, making him gulp.

"is...it wrong to be attracted at first sight?" yoongi backed away, frightened at the aura the girl possesses.

"well, no. but love at first sight should've been much better." nayeon deadpanned, earning a nudge from mina, telling her not to scare customers.

yoongi just stood there, watching the two quarrel.

the staff room's door had swung open, stopping mina and nayeon's bickering, and turning the attention of the three to jihyo, who's now out of her work clothes, carrying her backpack.

he can't help but smile at her, who was making her way towards the counter.

"i'll be going now. bye!" jihyo waved at her two friends. once she made an eye contact with yoongi, she bowed slightly, before going straight to the exit.

and of course, yoongi wasted no time running after her, coffee still in hand.

mina and nayeon, who were now left alone, just smiled at the sight. "jihyo's not a baby anymore." nayeon fake-cried, earning another smack from mina. "you're the baby though." mina just replied. "yeah, your baby." nayeon grinned. and once again, a smack from mina.

——
