I think maybe I... maybe I made a mistake.

Those eyes.

Those eyes of hatred.

How Blake hissed at me.

How she scrunched her face in disgust.

How she yelled at me for asking those.

How she hated our species.

Although both of us a faunus.

It shouldn't be this way.

-----------

"It happened years ago. When Humans and Faunus are in war with each other." Blake opened up a story, once she calmed down from her anger. It tooks time for me to calm her down at the moment. Luckily she still tell me about this.

"Those bird-faunus, as they now called themselves as Angel, are the one who initiate it. So far as I remember, one of them discover something powerful. So called as Magic." Blake leaned in and took one of those book that I brought. She's flipping pages while I waiting in anticipation.

Blake continue, "Afterwards they silently learned this skill, only among themselves. I can't remembered the actual name of the founder, but it's given as SC. Still now we didn't have any clue what was that." Blake stopped and put the book down and showed it to me.

My eyes widen in surprised.

Those are our symbol. The pride symbol for Schnee's and our kind.

"We discovered this symbol once one of them came here years ago, and it crafted one of Ruby's favourite tree. That's where all of this started."

-----------

I couldn't comprehend every things Blake had told me. It fortunate to me that they didn't realize those symbol on my weapon. Or did they? But if they did, they would possibly threw me off.

Now I'm lingered around the forest, where I've been thrown into. Quietly finding a places to sit down and continuing my research. Time flies by as I keep on flipping the pages. Finding the truth from all of this madness. Honestly, I didn't really happy when I found out about there's another kinds except us, and the human of course. But another type of faunus? No. Father never told me everything. In fact, he didn't let anyone come to the human world through portals.

“What are you doing here?”

Startled, almost I flipped my book away. Turned around only facing Ruby. Didn't expecting she would be here.

“Um, revising?” I showed her the book.

“Sitting down torturing your neck? Come with me.” Ruby hesitated asking me to stand up and follow, so I did. Wonder where she will take me though.

Walking behind her kind of reminding me of something. Something about the past. Which is until now it still blurred in my mind. The cold yet strange girl in front of me. Which somehow didn't make me feel that scared when I first saw her. Knew her. Sometimes at night I keep thinking those words from those two, about Ruby. About what exactly happened to her.

“Can you climb?” Ruby stopped and asked. Snapped out of my thoughts, stood there facing the taller and bigger tree I have not seen in this forest. Slowly I shook my head, since I didn't ever  climb a tree. Somehow this tree reminiscing me of something. Definitely something.

“Hold on sec. I'm gonna go up and bring down the ladder.” With that, she left me down her. Watching her easily climbing up making me wanting to try. Oh hell goes to the skirt I wear. Maybe next time.

Soon a string wooden ladder appeared on my sight. Seeing Ruby asking me to come up, reluctantly I climb up. Surprise, when overview of the forest are popping on my views. Turned around seeing a treehouse. Long time no see.

“Wow.”

Ruby then signaled me to come in the treehouse. It felt pleasingly comfortable since this remind me of Layna's house back in Land of Sylvince. Her house exactly on a big tree. The treehouse aren't that bad, with those wooden still look tough and glossy, the space inside aren't that crowded although it look small from outside. Walking around, I notice there a sofa(3 person) along with coffee table. There's a desk just opposite the window. And shelf where it almost packed and there's book laying around.

“You can take the desk and do your work.” Ruby said as she gather some books with her from the shelf and proceed to the door.

“Where are you going?” Questioning to her as I shifted nervously. It's kind of awkward, knowing both of us didn't even talk since she saved me. So I tried my luck today.

Ruby turned around, shifting her backpack. “The barks just across the window from where the desk is.” She pointed.

“Uh sure, um,” My eyes wandered from where she pointed to and soon met her eyes again. Those silver orbs. “Be careful, though.” I sent her a smile, although I'm not fancy with smiling but why not?

Ruby nodded and proceed to the barks. Then I walked to the desk and placed the books on it. Seeing Ruby adjusted herself leaning on the barks, with her feet hanging between the branch.

Two hours pass by then I closed the book. Taking a rest from reading. Then my eyes fixated to the body figure in front of me. Sleeping Ruby.

Snorted, as I leaned forward and rest my chin on my palm, supported by elbow. Really, there is something about that girl clicked in my mind whenever I think about her. Those face illuminating by the sun-soon-sets by minutes from now. Face that shows composure yet peace.

Wind sudden blows with quick harsh, makes my eyes fluttered. There's a slight moving from Ruby from corner of my eye, quickly I jump out from the window, as soon as I saw her body, swaying, falling down.
