"Why, Grey...why?!" Joseph murmurs under his breath as he gets up. He wobbles back and trips over a metal rod, causing him to trip and fall out of the hovercraft.

"Oh no!" I gasp as I put on a jetpack. I press the activation button and leap out of the hovercraft. Joseph's body rockets to the ground. His eyes are closed but there is still a look of pain on his face.

"I've got this," a voice from above calls out. Raine is holding a fishing net in her hands.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

"Rescuing Joseph, of course!" Raine swings the net and swiftly catches Joseph's body.

"How were you able to do that?"

"Just swing it and catch your target. That's how it's supposed to be used," Raine explains as her feet land on the ground. I follow suit as the hovercraft lands beside us.

"You two---take Joseph to the hospital right now!" Trevan rolls down the window.

"Roger that," Raine nodded. "Jojo, you help me place Joseph inside that wagon over there,"

"A wagon? Really?" I raise my eyebrows. How are two teenage girls supposed to drag an unconscious man to the hospital?

"Shut up and do it!" Raine snaps as the two of us place Joseph inside a red wagon. Then we proceed to the hospital.

---

"Thanks a lot, ma'am," I bow as the nurse helps Raine place Joseph onto the hospital bed.

"No problem," she nods towards Joseph, who is now resting on the bed. "He appears to be suffering from severe emotional distress. He's gonna take a long time to recover from it..."

"He watched Grey get killed with his own eyes,"

"No wonder," the nurse shakes her head. "They've been married for several years. Joseph loved him with all of his heart,"

"First Sidney kills a black man, now Grey! Man...what's going on here? I'm not liking this," I shake my head as my Holophone rings. It says I'm receiving a call from Trevan. "Raine, get over here! It's Trevan!"

"Alright," Raine gets off the couch as I answer the call.

"Is Joseph at the hospital?" Trevan demands to know.

"Yes, we just took him there. He's resting right now," Raine answers. "What now?"

"I'm putting you two on Joseph duty. Alert the nurses if a) he wakes up, b) if you need anything, or c) something goes terribly wrong. I'm out,"

"Why us on Joseph duty?! It should be Alessandra; she's an expert on this stuff! A mechanic like me got no time to sit around and waste time!"

"You're a mechanic?" I gaze at Raine with awe.

"Yeah. I created the Eavesdropper for Joseph upon his request,"

"Well, you might be able to use the opportunity to be out of combat to create some weapons,"

"I can't," Raine shakes her head. "I'm on strict orders to not make anything unless asked to by someone,"

"In that case...can you make me an Eavesdropper...please?"

"I'll try to gather the necessary materials."

"Are you involved in the chaos going on right now?" the nurse asks.

"Yeah. Why?" I raise my eyebrows.

"Do you know how to change things? Things have been hell ever since Daniel Evans became President,"

"Nope," I shake my head. "I tried talking sense into him, but he wouldn't listen,"

"What now?"

"We improvise, of course," Raine blurts out.

"What?! How can you improvise? Do you know what could happen if you act without a plan? People will die! That's just plain dumb!"

"We're aware of that...but Trevan knows how much Joseph loved Grey. They've been friends for a while. I will not stand for this injustice! I will not allow another innocent soul to be crushed like a bug!"

"I like your feisty demeanor, but it's gonna take a lot more than that to take down the President," the nurse sighs. "Well, guess I better get back to work,"

"Okay. We'll be here," Raine says as I curl up on the couch and fall into a deep sleep...

A few hours later, I awake to Raine yelling my name.

"W-What?" I slowly open my eyes to the blinding light of the hospital.

"You might wanna check this out." Raine pulls out her Holophone and projects the holocite Hot Mess.

"'Former president Grey Sharize's death angers LGBT community'." I read aloud. Raine then plays a video of an angry mob in front of the White House. "Oh my God,"

"You're not the only one enraged by his death, Jojo. The LGBT community wants justice for this irrational act...but how do we stop this from escalating into a riot?" Raine wonders aloud. She's right. This could be the end of peace as we know it. Everybody knows how the LGBT reveres Grey and Joseph for their work. It seemed as though the President killing Grey was an insult to them. I see why, though.

My train of thought was interrupted by Joseph starting a coughing fit.

"You're awake!" I exclaim.

"Er...what? Where am I?" Joseph grumbles.

"Joseph!"

"What happened?"

"You fainted after watching Grey get shot by President Wills,"

"Huh? All I remember is the lights going dim..." Joseph scratches his head.

"Joseph..." Raine mumbles under her breath. "Grey is dead,"

"I remember now. Grey and I got married a month before his inauguration. Trevan knows how much I loved him. He was my everything. And now that he's gone...I don't know what to do. He was my rock. When you guys left for D.C., I had a nightmare about his death. I thought it was just a bad dream, but now, I think it was telling me something about Grey's fate. I wish we hadn't gotten involved when we did...right before we all got captured. Had we done that...Grey might not have died..." Joseph states. Then he bursts into tears.

"I'm sorry..." Raine gives Joseph a hug. I won't ever forgive President Wills for what he did. After witnessing this tragedy, I now am fired up to hurt him the way he hurt everybody else. I swear by my father's name.
