"Are you planning to wait out and watch me make my move?" President Wills taunts as Christian and I lean against the White House.
"I'm out," Christian dives into the nearest bush. Great, thanks a lot, Chris. Thanks for ditching me right before the hardest fight of my life...probably. I need your help on this, but if you don't wanna help, whatever.
"Once I start attacking, you'll be done for!" President Wills shouts. I grab my gun and start shooting it at President Wills, who dodges all the bullets. I get it. So he's playing hard to get...literally.
I reach into my backpack and grab a couple of throwing knives. I throw them at President Wills, who completely evades my attacks.
"No way!" I gasp. "How could you dodge all my throwing knives?"
"I've been practicing ever since people came to assassinate me. Daniel Evans probably couldn't dodge just as fast as I could, so I had to learn how to dodge so I don't end up like him. I'm sure your shooting and knife throwing skills had to be honed for quite a while,"
It's true. My mother always told me to defend myself. She told me it would come in handy one of these days should I get attacked. She disproved of Ariadna and Christian teaching me to shoot a gun and throw knives. She always thought they were uncivilized weapons.
"Jojo! Stay calm!" Christian calls from the bushes. "Don't let him get to you,"
I know, Chris. I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve. Just you wait.
I take out more throwing knives and brandish one of them at President Wills.
"Whatever you're trying to do, it won't work," he cackles. Ignoring him, I begin throwing knives at him, but each time, he dodges. I've only got throwing knives and a gun. What else am I supposed to do? Raine never gave me a lesson on different types of weapons and the like. Mason never taught me how to really fight. I learned all that from taking martial arts when I was younger.
To my surprise, President Wills catches some of the knives and throws them back at me. All of a sudden, I feel a sharp pain in my ear. I clutch it and feel blood. Dammit. This guy's ruthless...
"I'm not done yet!" I pick up throwing knives and hurl them back at President Wills, who continues to catch them and fling them back at me. One of the knives slices against my arm, causing a jolting pain. I hold my hand in the bleeding part to stop blood from oozing out.
I can't win at this rate. I need to do something. I hate doing this, but all I can do is retreat.
Holding my arm with my free hand, I dash away from the scene and all the way to the hospital.
