I looked at my phone. I was late to the first day of my job. Elle was probably lying through her teeth for me, explaining to our boss why I was not there. I couldn't be more thankful.

When I finally arrived at the office, Elle was stood there pulling at her skirt as she engaged in conversation with a tall lad. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Mr. MacDreamy.

"You're here Athena! Jesus, what happened this morning?" She gasped before introducing me to the boy she was stood with.

His name was Luke.

"I heard you missed your train, Miss Miller. Is that true?" He asked with his deep voice.

"Yes, it is, Mr. Hemmings. It seems that my alarm didn't go of and then I was late running late for my train, I’m really sorry it won’t happen again….” I said, looking to Elle and then to Luke.

"Please, call me Luke. I'm not that old." He said, laughing.

After this little meeting, Elle greeted me, jumping up and down, excited to introduce me to our colleagues. We were both working in a major company that deals with the stock market.

I end up staying right in front of some boy that looked a little bit weird. His ears pierced, blue hair and green eyes. Typically he wasn't the type of boy that I was associate with the economical world, he looked more suited to a rock band.

“Take a picture, it will last longer” His voice suddenly echoed, and he locked his eyes with me.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare. I’m just fascinated by your hair” I immediately answered him. “Sorry that was weird” I added

”It's okay. I'm Michael. Head of Marketing for the company . And thanks by the way” He nodded.

I didn't just embarrass myself in front of any employee. Only I could embarrass myself in front of the head of Marketing. The one area I am dead interested in.

"Athena." I let the silence staying over us, so I couldn't embarrass myself anymore.

Elle appeared in front of me, a smirk smothered across her face.

"Lunch starts at 12 o'clock, which means that you have an hour free and do whatever you want. We have a small room out there with a little fridge and a coffee maker and a stupid machine, well, you know what I want to say. Today's your first day and you already screwed up. But I will refrain from making a big deal out of it.” she said pointing to the small room.

"Yeah, yeah, Elle. I know what I did, Don't remind me. First day - Late, embarrassed myself in front of Michael the head of Marketing and who knows what else will happen.”

"Just promise me one thing." She replied.

"And what is that?"

“Don’t be late tomorrow” She winked laughing slightly

“Oh I can promise you that”

"So... I’ll let you get on. Everything you need to know about setting up your user profile is in this booklet.” Elle smiled pointing to the booklet on my desk.  ”See you later.” she added.

"Bye, Elle."

After reading and re-reading the paper that Elle gave to me a few hours ago, I finally understood what to do and how to do my work. The promise was still in my mind for the entire morning and I forgot to ask her where was the room she was talking about. If I wanted to send her a message, It was impossible. My phone battery was dead and I had no one that I knew to ask if I could borrow his/her phone. So, the last and worst choice, was to go all by myself to that place.

"Are you lost?" Someone from behind me said. I turned around, just to be greeted with a tall boy, with golden hair and beautiful hazel eyes.

"Actually, yes. I don't know how to get to the lunch room." I answered, whispering slightly

"C'mon, then. I'll show you the way." He smiled.

"Thanks." I slowly answered him, and turned to where he was going, every once in a while looking to the floor, trying to avoid eye contact with some people.

"Here you are!" Elle said, looking to me and then to the boy right by my side. "I see you made a new friend, Athena!" She said very happily for my liking.

"Yeah, ..." I turned to the boy, trying to make perceptible that I wanted him to say his name.

"Ashton." He smiled.

"Ashton, this is Elle, my best friend. And Elle, this is Ashton. He showed me the way to here, since I forgot to ask you how to get here..." I faked a giggle, while I was trying to explain everything to her.

"Okay, then. Nice to meet you, Ashton. Let's go to that table. The boys are waiting to meet you." She said.

Trust Elle to have already made friends. She has always been the louder out of us ever since we were at school. Being Miss Popular had definitely helped her. I wasn't that popular at school and to be perfectly honest Elle and I didn't really hang around together at school. She hung around with the football boys and I, well I hung around with my friends.

"It was nice to meet you, Ashton" I smiled him, while Elle walked me to her table.

I was very surprised when we reach her table. Michael, was sitting there, and right next to him was Luke, the boy that I guess was someone important above us.

So Elle had already become friends with Michael, the head of Marketing and Luke who I discovered was the director of Finance. This would do Elle favours. I bet she would be able to climb her way up this company stat.

"Tonight, a bunch of us are going for drinks. I can pick you up, if you want." Luke said, inviting us and giving some paper.

"Sure." Elle replied right after him. "You're going with me to my house, Athena. So Luke can pick us at eight o'clock, if that's right."

She didn't gave me a choice! "What if I...-" I tried to said, only to be cut off by Elle, giving me a warning glare. "No ifs." She demanded.

I buffed and stayed silent. And like I was used to, there was no way that I could run away from this.

"Okay. 8 o'clock then." Luke flashed a smile at Elle.

She giggled back.
