prologue

"Shadowpelt come quick, it's Firefoot she's kitting." I bolt out of my nest, into my herbs. once I have the herbs that I need I head to the nursery. "Sunspot can you get Nightpaw for me I will need her help." Sunspot nods and runs towards the medicine den. After a bit they come back. "Shadowpelt what do I have to do to help this time." I hear my apprentice ask. "Same as last time get her to eat the herbs." I tell her. After a while we had gotten the last kit out, there were five kits. "So what are their names Firefoot?" I ask the mother. "Let's wait till Maplestar comes back, he has a say to." Firefoot says. We hear the entrance of the camp rustling as we can scent Maplestar and Tigerfrost. Maplestar rushes in saying  "what did I miss." I answer, "only the kitting, I'll come back in a bit for the names." With that I beckon to Nightpaw and leave the den. "Wow that was a long kitting and a lot of kits." I hear Nightpaw say. I chuckle and say, "it could've been longer and deadly for the kits, I was born to a litter of 7, which is more than any before, there was only two survivors me and Maplestar. Yes we are from the same litter." I hear her padding towards me. "Isn't that the story of the kits who were raised by the leader because their mother died and their father was nowhere to be found." She asks softly, I just nod. "Get some sleep you will need it for tomorrow, I'll tell you the kits names when you wake up." I tell Nightpaw. I walk out of our den and into the nursery, seeing that they are done picking names I ask, "so what are their names?" "Well the she-cat is whitekit, the yellow tom is waspkit, the speckled grey tom if leafkit the rusty brown colored tom is rustkit, and the other brown tom is otterkit. I've already told stonekit and mosskit to leave them alone intell they are older." Firefoot answers. I head to my nest but as soon as I get in the den I see Halfpaw and Sootstrike. "We need traveling herbs, we are going to visit the moontree with Maplestar." Sootstrike tells me. After I give them the traveling herbs I head to bed.
