Third P.O.V.
Clarith took the hat off her head and walked towards the Slytherin table, completely unaware to the plight that was swarming in her friend's mind, and sat next to Julianne.
"Hey Draco~" Clarith smiled innocently at him. When he looked away she smirked and looked back towards the front as the next name was called out.
"Potter, Harry!"
As Harry stepped forward, whispers suddenly broke out like little hissing fires all over the hall.
"Potter, did she say?"
"The Harry Potter?"
The last thing Harry saw before the hat dropped over his eyes was the hall full of people craning to get a good look at him. Next second he was looking at the black inside of the hat. He waited.
"Hmm," said a small voice in his ear. "Difficult. Very difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind either. There's talent, oh my goodness, yes—and a nice thirst to prove yourself, now that's interesting... And a great future with your new friends and a broken rivalry between hoses... So where shall I put you?"
Harry sat there frightened. 'Not Slytherin,' he begged. 'Please not Slytherin.'
The Sorting Hat grunted. "Are you sure?" it questioned. "Your friend is in there."
Harry nodded meekly, similar to that of a mouse. He did not want to be reminded of Malfoy. He new Clarith was tough enough to handle herself unlike himself. Though it still hurt that she was a slimy snake like Malfoy.
"Alright," it sighed. "Better be in... GRYFFINDOR!"
Harry heard the hat shout the last word to the whole hall. He took off the hat and walked shakily toward the Gryffindor table. He sat in beside Luke who patted him on the back and high-fived him. Percy the Prefect got up and shook his hand vigorously, while the Weasley twins yelled, "We got Potter! We got Potter!"
He could see the High Table properly now. At the end nearest him sat Hagrid, who caught his eye and gave him the thumbs up. Harry grinned back. And there, in the center of the High Table, in a large gold chair, sat Albus Dumbledore. Harry recognized him at once from the card he'd gotten out of the Chocolate Frog on the train. Dumbledore's silver hair was the only thing in the whole hall that shone as brightly as the ghosts. Harry spotted Professor Quirrell, too, the nervous young man from the Leaky Cauldron. He was looking very peculiar in a large purple turban. Harry looked back towards the stool as the professor called out "Schneller, Hanz."
"Gryffindor!" Hanz quickly stood up and walked towards Harry and Luke.
"Spencer, Torion," Torion walked to the stool and sat down. She was sorted into Gryffindor.
Next was "Steilsson, Riliane," Riliane walked to the stool and sat down. The hat was placed on her head shortly after.
"Hmm," said a small voice in her ear. "Difficult. Very difficult. Values hard work, dedication, fair play, patience, and loyalty, I see. Not a bad mind either...So where to put you? You'd thrive in both Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw."
"Could I be in Ravenclaw, please?" Riliane asked. "Klive is in there all by himself. I don't want him to be lonely."
The Sorting Hat snorted. "Just for that answer, you're in...Hufflepuff!" The hat shouted. Riliane sighed. She walked towards the Hufflepuff table, sat next to Paris, and started to watch the last four get sorted.
