I get ready and head downstairs. Today, I decide I'm going to eat breakfast. I make a bowl of cereal for myself and devour it. I look in the mirror once more before I head off for school. I look the same as always. Black hair curling down. Green eyes that look like diamonds. But why do I feel so...different? For once, I don't take my notebook with me. I get to school early, but I was scared of going into the spot. So I climbed over the gate. The school doors were open, so I walked in, and headed straight for the rooftop. I took in the fresh air. Today, I will succeed. I will be calm and not break down. I will not get angered. I see the school gates open. School starts in 15 minutes.
I head down to class, because I didn't want to stay up any longer. I take my seat in chemistry. "You're early today, Ms. Arin." I nod. "Can I go ahead and have today's work?" She looked at me surprised. "Are you sure you'll be able to?" I nod. "I can at least try." She nods and hands me the work. I sit down and try it. It was actually pretty easy, but there were a few I didn't understand. I check the time. 10 more minutes to starting. And no one was in class yet. "Could you help on a few of these?" She smiles. "I'm glad to see you taking initiative. I can definitely help you." She helped me, and I thanked her. Now I understood everything. "May I have today's homework also?" She looks at me in surprise. "What's gotten into you today?" I shrug. "I want to be a top student. And I want to understand everything." She nods.
I started working on the homework, and it was actually very easy, now that I understood the lesson. I finished the homework just before class started. I gave Miss. The homework and then sat back down. She looked through it and nodded to me happily. "You did it." I smiled back. Everyone came in and took their seats, and I could feel someone's gaze boring through me. I ignored it. After class, I quickly moved to my next class. Mira was in there. Mira looked at me. "Are you ok?" I shook my head. She hugged me. "Tell me about it later." I nodded. I asked Miss. For the homework. "But you don't understand the lesson yet." "I can try it at least, so I have a broader acknowledgment of the lesson." I didn't know what I was saying either, but I got the homework. I looked over it.
I had already learned it! Back in middle school, they taught us a little bit about it. I went through the questions, answering them. I sat back and relaxed through the rest of the lesson. After the lesson, I handed the homework to Miss. She looked through it. "Perfect. I'm glad of this." I nodded. Mira looked towards me happily. "Lunch!" I sighed. "I'm going to the rooftop, get your lunch and come up there." She nods. She was used to me not eating.
I head up to the rooftop. I take a seat in the corner on a chair. A few minutes later, Mira comes up and joins me. We take another chair and move our chairs so there were facing each other. We were talking and laughing when Nam comes up. "Mira, this is Nam." "Nam, Mira." They shook hands, and we moved the chairs to make a triangle. We talked and laughed, and then everyone moved to get to class. "Let's sit back here tomorrow." We all nodded.
My next class was downstairs. I sighed and climbed down all the stairs. So tiring. I got to my next class and took my seat next to Jin. He eyed me. "Is your stomach ok?" I nodded. I had forgotten about my stomach over the events of yesterday. I repeated what I did with my other classes and took the homework early. And finished it before class was over. Jin was watching me the whole time. After class, I turned it in, and she smiled. I had gotten a perfect score again.
Next class was 4th period. I so did not want to go. I got it! I enter class and see that I was the first one in. Nobody else was there. 'Uh...Miss.?" She looked up. "Yes, Ms. Arin?" I looked down. "Can you please give me the lesson notes and homework? I'm feeling down, and I don't think I'll be able to concentrate today." She nodded. "Do you think you have a fever?" I shake my head. "I'm not sure, I'm just having a headache and stomach pains. I think's just after-effects." "From what?" She asks, and I see more people are filing in. I could feel Taehyung's gaze on me from so far away. But he can't hear us. He's too far away. "My brother was killed yesterday, and I got hurt too." Miss. Sighed. "I'm sorry for your loss." I nod.
I was about to leave the class room, but then I remembered. "Uh, Miss?" She looked up. I sighed. "I might not be here for the rest of the week. Can I have the rest of the lesson plans and homework too?" She sighed and nodded. It was kind of heavy. "We have a test next Tuesday, ok?" I nodded. I left the classroom and decided to go get the rest of the lesson plans and homework from the rest of my teachers. I knocked on my chemistry teacher's door. Nam was in this class. He looked at me curiously. "Yes, Ms. Arin? Do you need something?" I nodded. "I may not be here the rest of the week. May I please have the lesson plans, notes, and homework?" She nods. "The test is next Friday." "Ok."
Then I went to my Calculus class. "You do realize you're disrupting class, right? What do you need Ms. Arin?" I sighed. "I will not be here the rest of the week. May I please have the rest of the lesson plans, notes, and homework?" She huffs and gets it out. It was in a box. She hands me a heavy stack of papers, which added to the huge stack I already had, was just torture. And I still had another class to visit. "May I ask why you're leaving?" I looked down. "I need time to recover." She looked confused. "My brother was killed. In front of me. The funeral." She nods. "My condolences. If you want, you can take the test next Thursday instead of Tuesday." I shook my head. "After this one week, I'll be ok. I'll take it the day of it."
I moved out of that class and went to my language arts class. Mira was in it. Surprise surprise. She looks at me confused. "Yes, Ms. Arin?" I break my gaze with Mira. "I-I won't be here the rest of the week, so I need the rest of the lesson plans, homework, and notes." She hands me a huge stack of papers. "This was an important week. Now you have a handful of papers. I hope whatever you're leaving class for is worth it." I didn't say anything, because I couldn't look over the papers. My hands were hurting a lot now. "May I help her Miss.?" "I'm fine. I can handle it."
I exit the class room, and was now doing everything on my own memory, because I could barely see out the stack of papers. So I need to look sideways. I finally turn a corner and decide I was going to put them down. I open my purse and try cramming as many papers as I can inside. "OH MY GOD!" I look to see a girl and a guy. Apparently, they were making out. "Disgusting. Can't you do that elsewhere?"
"Couldn't you sort your papers elsewhere?" I recognized that voiced. "Taehyung?" He walks towards me, and I slide a bit back. "Here, I'll move." I take my purse and papers to the next corner. I huffed. Wasn't he making out with the girl who kicked me? Is it just a different girl every day? Whatever, none of my business. He wants to spiral down, he can do so. He's made it clear he wants none of my help.
I was able to cram about half of the papers into my now-huge purse, due to my mad packing skills. I pick up the rest and start walking, and it felt like a burden was lifted. I could barely look over the top of the stack of papers, but I could still look a bit out. I use my back to open the door and walk out. I take a big breath. "Smells nice." I say.
"Who're you talking to?"
I turn to see Taehyung. I roll my eyes and continue walking. He keeps up with me, walking backwards so he can see my face. I stop and look at him. I was about to say 'go away' but I had a question. "Where were you last night?" He stops at my question. "Why'd you want to know?" I shrug. "Never mind." There's no away the person there was Taehyung. Taehyung can't possibly be a vampire. But then who was it?
Taehyung was paused in deep concentration. I keep walking. I stop in front of the spot. Should I go in? No. I'm still scared from what happened last night. I feel the papers lifted from my hands. "I'll help you." I reached for the papers. "No way. Go find some other girl to make out with." I take the papers back. I turn around to where he is, but he wasn't there anymore. "Well you're fast"
Just then the papers were taken from my hands again. I see Taehyung sprinting down the road with them. "Hey! Come back!" I run after him, sighing.
