In a room in Keihanna Plaza hotel, Momo sat on the bed intently looking at her phone. She was searching her escape route from Kyoto. She was disturbed by a knock on the door.
'House keeping,' a man said.
She opened the door. She shouldn't have. The three men who were chasing her the previous night stood in front of her along with an elderly man. She tried to close the door but no use. The strong men prevented the door from closing. Helplessly she stepped back and the men barged in.
'Let's not make it difficult, little miss. Come willingly with us,' the elderly man said.
'I don't want to go with you, uncle Yuto. Please let me go,' she pleaded.
'You know you can't run now. Walk with us peacefully,' Yuto said.
'Ugh how do you even find me?' she stamped her foot in frustration.
'I saw you last night, little miss. I decided to let you sleep at least one night peacefully, so I waited for the morning.'
'Oh, so now you care for me?'
'I have always cared for you, little miss. Your father is waiting. Let's go,' he said in his ever humble tone. She rolled her eyes in disbelief and complied to go with them. The three burly men closely guarded her as they walked to their cars in the parking lot.
"Hirai Industries" said the entrance to the building.
Her father Hirai Makito was the chairperson of Hirai Industries. He started out his career as a humble mechanical engineer. Later on, he started his own business of manufacturing electronic components. In the past 20 years, his business incredibly grew and now he was a well respected tycoon in the field. In the process of thriving his fortune, he couldn't give much attention to his wife and daughter thus leading to a failed marriage.
Momo felt like she grew up without a father. He was there, but he wasn't there for them. Yuto, her father's secretary and closest friend was more a father figure to her than her own father.
Makito sent Yuto to cheer for Momo in his stead when she took part in her elementary school's fancy dress competition because he was busy in a meeting. She was so happy when Yuto gave her a Barbie doll which, he told her, was a gift from her father. Yuto was the one who played with little Momo who waited her father to finish a business deal in his office. Her father had promised to take her to see the new Disney movie. It was Yuto who took her to the movie because her father couldn't close the deal in time. It was Yuto who called the doctor when she was sick. It was Yuto who praised the first dish she cooked even though he had a hard time swallowing the slightly uncooked rice in her salmon fried rice.
She knew Yuto did those because he was her father's employee but he was definitely more likable than her father and she would have liked him even more if it wasn't for Yuto's unshakeable loyalty for Makito.
Momo's mother Eri put up with her unhappy married life because she did not want Momo to have fragmented family. Two years back she found out that her husband had an affair with one of his old employees named Fumie. What was more shocking was the fact that he had been backstabbing her for thirteen years. He had an illegitimate twelve years old boy out of their affair. Eri couldn't take it anymore and decided to divorce Makito.
After their divorce Momo lived with his father, not by choice. He forced her to. She wanted to live with her mother but he literally imprisoned her at home. She rebelled a lot. Later, he started letting her go out but with bodyguards whose duty was to make sure she didn't run into her mother.
Her resistance grew stronger. Once she attempted to run away from home so that she could live with her mother. Unfortunately, she got caught. The very next day, she lost all contacts of her mother. It was the doings of his powerful father. Since then she hadn't heard anything about her mother.
