38. Game on

Chaeyoung woke up with a splitting headache. He found himself on the couch. He groaned getting up and went to get himself a glass of water. On his way to the kitchen, he heard someone snore from Momo's room. He opened the door and peeked in. Sana was sleeping there. He poured himself a glass of water in the kitchen and recalled what happened the night before.

'Kids,' a woman called from outside. It was the landlady. Chaeyoung went to welcome her. Jeongyeon came out of his room as well.

'I have come to get the rent,' the landlady said.

'Is it that time of the month already? Wait imo, we will bring out the money,' Jeongyeon said.

They paid what they owed. Jeongyeon's paid Momo's share as well.

'This is what Momo owes you, imo. She went to Japan with her father so she won't be living here anymore,' Jeongyeon informed the landlady.

'Okay okay. That kid should have at least meet me. She is a sweet girl. Have a good day then,' said the landlady and left.

'Hyung...' Chaeyoung said.

'Yes?' Jeongyeon looked at him.

'I'm sorry about last night. I shouldn't have spoken in that tone.'

'It's all right. You weren't wrong. I got myself into this problem. I should find the solution as well.'

'Please don't say that. We may not be related by blood but you're my family. Your problem is my problem. We are in this together.'

'Thank you, Chaeyoung-ah,' Jeongyeon smiled. 'Your words comfort me. They mean a lot to me.'

Chaeyoung smiled at him and patted his shoulder.

Chaeyoung had a date with Mina. First, they went for movies, then dinner at a restaurant. All was going well until Kyungsik showed up in the restaurant. They were having dessert when he walked in with few other men. He sent the men ahead to sit at their table and came to greet Mina.

'Hey Mina! What a pleasant surprise! What are you doing here?' Kyungsik cheerfully said. Mina and Chaeyoung's eyes turned to him.

'Oh, hi Kyungsik. I came for dinner with Chaeyoung,' Mina replied with a smile.

'What a stupid question. What could be anyone doing in a restaurant? Play football?' Chaeyoung thought.

'Oh, this is Chaeyoung, right?' Kyungsik pointed at Chaeyoung, 'Your junior at work, right? We have met before.'

'And her boyfriend,' Chaeyoung said. Mina felt uneasy with the sudden change of mood.

'Yeah, yeah. Hi kid. Nice to meet you again,' Kyungsik extended his hand and Chaeyoung shook it.

'Hi.'

'I came for dinner with couple of partners and clients. Who would have thought I would meet you here!' Kyungsik beamed.

'Why are you telling us that? Nobody asked you,' Chaeyoung thought.

'Is that so?' Mina said politely.

'Yeah. I'm working on a big deal worth millions. My bonus this year is gonna be big!' he bragged excitedly.

'Congratulations,' Chaeyoung faked a smile at him.

'Congrats Kyungsik,' Mina said.

'Thanks. I gotta go. My rich guests are waiting for me haha,' Kyungsik laughed at his own joke. 'Bye Mina.'

Mina waved at him. She noticed Chaeyoung's stern expression.

'He is snobbish, right?' she said and continued eating her ice-cream. Chaeyoung hadn't touched his ice-cream since Kyungsik left.
