'Hi,' Momo said. Jeongyeon looked up to her.
'Hi, Momo. We meet again,' he smiled at her. Momo took the seat adjacent to him.
'Sir can we exchange seats? Would you mind sitting at the back in my seat?' her bodyguard asked Jeongyeon.
'For God's sake go and sit in your seat, Rei. I'm not going to run away from a flying plane,' Momo scolded. Her bodyguard sat a row behind. Jeongyeon's attention returned to his book. She read the cover of book he was reading.
"Samuel Beckett, Waiting For Godot"
'What are you reading?' she asked. She wanted him to talk to her. He looked her way.
'It's a short drama. I already read it twice. Do you want to read?' he asked. She pouted and shook her head.
'It's written in English. I'm not good in English. Will you tell me the story?'
'Well, there's not much in the story. Just two men blabbering about absurd things while they wait for a man named Godot, who is possibly someone who could make their lives better. They wait for him at a spot everyday all day. But he never arrives. Each day Godot sends a boy to tell the two men that he will come the next. But same story the next day. He never comes,' Jeongyeon said.
'That's really absurd. I can understand reading it once. Why did you even read it twice?' Momo asked.
'Because I have a Godot in life. Everyone has a Godot in life. Something we want but never comes to us,' his voice had a hint of melancholy. His voice suddenly cheered up when he said, 'Your Godot is your independence. I see you got caught and you got a bodyguard now,' he chuckled, but not in a mocking manner. Momo rolled her eyes and reclined in her seat.
'Life is unfair,' she said. Jeongeyon became quiet.
'What a no-jam,' she muttered. He heard it and chuckled.
'What do you want me to do?'
'Tell another Godot story?' Momo said. It was supposed to be sarcastic but maybe Jeongyeon took it literally; he was deep in thought.
'Okay. I have a story about a boy named Jay,' he started and she wondered if she will be bored out of her wits.
Once there was boy named Jay. He was an ordinary boy, son of a chauffeur. He had a friend, Nana. She was the daughter of a rich businessman. She was brought up like the princess she was. Actually Jay's father was the chauffeur of Nana's father. Jay often visited Nana's house with his father. While his father worked, he played with Nana.
Jay's father was a trusted employee so Nana's father was kind enough to sponsor Jay's academic needs. He admitted him to an upscale school, where only the riches could afford. Nana studied there too. All the students there had rich high-class parents. Jay's classmates found out that he wasn't rich, so he was bullied.
Momo started to take interest in the story. Jeongyeon continued.
Nana became a guardian angel for Jay. She saved him from the bullies. She was always there for him. That's why Jay secretly liked her. When he was 12 years old, he once ran in a cross country race for under 13 boys. The first prize was a family vacation to Jeju-do. The second prize was two free passes for Lotte World, a theme park in Seoul. The third prize was a track suit and shoes sponsored by Adidas. Jay wanted the first prize, because his father could have never afford that kind of vacation. He was stretching and warming up before the race.
"Jay! I'm here," Nana's excited voice could be heard. She came running to him. She bent over with her palms on her knees panting. Jay smiled at her.
