The New Step Sister

After unpacking most of my things, I take my film camera out and put the strap around my neck. I am definitely not missing out on taking pictures of the flowers I saw in front of the house. I walk out of the house and start snapping pictures.

The flower bushes wrapped around the house, and I made my way into the garden. Every flower imaginable was in that garden with a marble fountain right in the center. I went to a white rose and took a picture. "Wow, so beautiful."

"You're beautiful" I heard a voice behind me say. I spun around. I see a tall guy with brown hair sweeping his eyes, and a boxy smile. "When you are taking pictures.. I mean. It's nice to see someone else with a passion for photography." He holds up his own camera and smiles.

He sees my surprised expression. "Oh, sorry! I didn't mean to scare you. I'm Taehyung. You must be the new step sister."

I relax and say hello. "I guess I have to get used to having a bunch of people around. I am an only child."

"Don't you mean was? Haha, it must be a shock going into a family of ten, huh?"

"Well, yeah, but I'll adjust. It was actually pretty lonely before."

"Now you have seven brothers to annoy you all day long!"

We both laugh. We walked around the garden talking about our love for photography, and became comfortable with each other. It seems like I just know Taehyung, same with Jimin. I hope that I have this same feeling with everyone else.

"Taehyung!" A voice sounded coming from inside the house. A guy came into the garden through the back door. He had black hair and a big brown eyes. "Where is my game controller! I told you not to keep taking my..." He stopped as soon as he saw me. He raised an eyebrow. "Who is this?"

Taehyung scoffs. "This is y/n. Our new step sister? Or didn't you hear?" Tae and I giggled.

He put his hands on his hips. "Well, sorry if I am a little slow. Dads relationship seemed like a blur. I mean, how long have they been dating? Seems like she's a little too easy."

My mouth dropped open. I can't believe he said that. I instantly grew angry. "Hey! Who do you think you are talking about my mother like that!"

"Whatever," he turns to walk away, "You won't last here long." He walks back into the house. I guess I won't be getting along with everyone here after all.

"What a jerk!" I crossed my arms.

Taehyung looked at me with sorry eyes. He gestures for me to sit down on a stone bench. "I'm really sorry for Jungkook. He's just been having a hard time since dad said you and your mom were coming to live with us."

Taehyungs low voice eased my anger a bit. "Why? What did he mean by 'you won't last here long?'"

"Well.." he hesitated. "It's just... our dad has had girlfriends in the past getting to him because of his money. They took advantage of him. They would convince him to give them a lump sum of money and just left."

"That...that sounds horrible. But my mother would never do that. I didn't even know your dad had a lot of money until I got here this morning."

"I guess... he really feels angry toward our mother. She left us when Jungkook was really young. I don't even think he has any memories of her at all. Just the pain she left behind."

Instantly I felt bad for Jungkook. To have all the women in your life betray you must be really heartbreaking. I hope his resentment doesn't last forever.

Taehyung notices me looking sad. "But hey! My dad talks about your mom like she is the best thing to ever happen to him. She is different, I know it. Jungkook will come around."

I smile at his words. "Thanks Tae." He puts his arm around my shoulder.

"Lets go inside and get something to eat, what do you say?"

"I say Let's go!"
