Every day is like the next, except this one

I woke up. It was a regular Friday. I got out of bed, got ready for school, then went to the kitchen to get breakfast. Usually I make the Avengers breakfast but they weren't there. Odd...

I threw in a piece of toast right as someone walked into the kitchen. "Hello?" I questioned as my hand crept onto the watch my dad helped me make. It has a few tricks.
"Hey kid." It was Happy Hogan. My dad's assistant. "Oh it's you. Gave me a scare." He laughed as I began to eat my breakfast.
"Sorry kid. I've got to take you to school." He responded.
"Hey, Where is everyone?"
"Mission."
"Oh well, when will they be back?"
"Probably later today." I nodded at him and walked back to my room to finish getting ready.

Before long, I was on my way to school. My phone beeped and I saw Emma had texted me.

{Emma: Hey, Do you have the science homework? I forgot it.}
[Me: If by forgot it, you mean you forgot to do it, sure. But if the teacher asks any questions, I helped you.]
{Emma: Thank you! You're saving my ass!}
[Me: I feel like I do this too often...]

A short conversation but I knew I would see her in just a minute. And I was right. Happy pulled up about a block away from school.
"Have a good day kid. I'll let you know when they all get back."
"Thanks." I responded as I shut the door. I pulled out my phone then put my headphones in. I took one out when I saw my friends. I set my backpack down, pulled out my homework and handed it to Emma.
"Thanks." She said as she pulled it from my hand. She immediately began to copy and I turned to Ross and Theo.
"Hey Chloe. Did you see the Avengers on the news this morning?" Ross asked with excitement. Ross and Theo are the biggest Avengers geeks. Little do they know I could be one soon.
"No. What's happening?" I asked. He pulled out his phone and I grabbed it out of his hand.
"Hey!" I put my hand up to shut him up.

-The Avengers are currently in Iraq, evacuating a major city.-

I didn't bother to read the rest of it. I knew what was going on and I could just ask my dad's computer system, FRIDAY.
"Cool." I said with a blank expression handing him the phone. Both Ross and Theo's eyes went wide.
"Did you not see the new Avenger?" Theo questioned.
There's a new Avenger? I thought. Dad never said anything about that.
"No? Who?"
"It's Spider-Man!" Ross exclaimed.
"If you actually payed attention you would know." Theo complained.
"Oh believe me. I do pay attention. But apparently not enough." I responded. The boys gave me puzzled looks as the bell rang. Emma and I made our way over to Science. We took our seats at our usual spot next to each other.
As the teacher began to take roll, I couldn't help but look on the spot next to me, it was empty. That's where Peter Parker sits.
But he's always here. I thought.
"Earth to Chloe?" Emma said waving her hand in front of my face.
"Oh...yeah...hey." I said snapping out of my day dream.
"You're thinking of Peter again?"
"Yeah. It's just, he's always here." I pointed out.

~~~~~~
I went through the rest of the day, wondering where Peter was. It was until our last period that I saw him. He sat in his normal spot, but something was wrong. He looked tired and beat up. He sat down with his hood over his head and placed his head in his hands, as if he were trying to sleep.
"Mr. Parker. No sleeping in class. And the hood comes off." Our teacher said. Peter sat up and took his hood off. He had scratches on his forehead that were still fresh. Something was wrong.
After class, I waited until everyone had left. Until only Peter and I were left.
"Hey? Peter?"
"Oh...umm... Hey Chloe." He said struggling to put his things in his backpack.
"Let me give you a hand." I volunteered as he dropped his books. I picked them up and put them in his bag.
"Thanks." He said as I looked up at him.
"You're bleeding." I said putting my hand to his forehead. He winced at my touch. "Let me help you." I insisted.
"No it's fine."
"No Peter. Let me help. School's over. I'll take you to my house." No I wouldn't be taking him to the base. I would be taking him to my apartment.
~Peter's POV~
I had just gotten back from a mission with the Avengers. It's weird because Mr. Stark says I'm not an Avenger yet he still has me go on missions.
When I arrived to my last period, my teacher got mad at me because I had my hood up. I was angry and in pain. My books began to fumble from my hands.
"Hey? Peter?" A voice said. I turned to see the girl I've had a massive crush on since Middle School.
"Oh...ummm...Hey Chloe." My books started to fumble out of my hands, then hit the ground.
"Let me help you." She said putting my books in my bag. "You're bleeding." She said putting her hand to my forehead which caused me to wince. "Let me help you."
"No it's fine."
"No Peter. Let me help. School's over. I'll take you to my house." I nodded and put my bag over my shoulder which hurt but I could let Chloe know that. She can't know I'm Spider-Man.
Chloe's apartment was small. It had two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room. Chloe brought me into the bathroom where I took a seat on the toilet. She went under her sink and came back out with a bunch of first-aid stuff.
"Looks like you know what your doing." I teased.
"Yeah. Let's just say my dad gets into a lot of fights." She said. It was something I would never think she would say.
Without thinking, the question I've been wanting to ask her for years finally came out. "Who is your dad? I've never met him before."
"I'll answer that if you tell me how you got hurt." She replied as she put a bandage on my forehead, then moved to clean my arm.
"I can't tell you that." I responded.
"Well then looks like you don't get to find out who my dad is." She said smiling. "Anyways...Everything is cleaned up. If you feel more comfortable, I can let you stay in my dad's room. He's on a business trip for the next week or so. Otherwise, you can go home." She said. Without any hesitation, I insisted I should stay at her apartment just in case.
She showed me the other bedroom then left. I pulled on a change of clothes for bed then collapsed onto the bed. I can't tell her I'm Spider-Man. It would ruin a friendship that I hope will blossom into a relationship. I'll tell her eventually. I got under the covers and closed my eyes. All I could think of was Chloe Day
~Chloe's POV~
I felt bad for just leaving Peter all by himself. I mean, my crush is sleeping in my apartment and I just left him alone. I used my computer system my dad helped me create. LEXI was her name.
"Hey Lexi?"
"How may I be of assistance Chloe?"
"Is my dad home yet?"
"Yes. Should I inform him of your whereabouts?"
"No just call him." I picked up my phone and my dad answered.
["Hey kid. Where are you?"]
"I'm at the apartment."
["The small one I bought in case a friend wants to stay over?"]
"Yes dad I kind of-"
["Please tell me you don't have a boy over."]
"That's kind of what I wanted to tell you."
["Oh for gods sake Chloe. What's his name?"]
"Before you say anything...no, I'm not sleeping with him. He was hurt so I brought him over."
["I need his name Sweetheart."]
"His name is Peter Parker. Please don't do the whole background information thing. He's a really nice guy and I've known him for a long time. Please don't look for any dirt or anything like that. I promise you he's clean."
["Don't worry. I don't have to."]
"What's that supposed to-" but he had already hung up. I turned off my watch and change into my pajamas and hopped in bed. My last thought before I fell asleep was, Peter Parker.
