12, that number, it drills in my brain. So little, so defenseless. Yet old enough to understand that eternal beauty and life isn’t my life style choice, but her I am.

What is there to say, I was afraid of me, so many years ago I was terrified of… myself.

Again 12, 12 years old. I was just starting to love life, then someone took it from me like they do it all the time. I had friends, I had family , I had my whole life ahead of me, now it’s gone.

March 09’

“Ms. Conner.” I looked up from my friends to see Mrs. Ginshy, my Social Studies teacher, patiently waiting for me to do something.

“Yes Mrs. Ginshy?” I asked like was interested. I heard my friend snicker behind me.

“I would love for you to answer my question I’m going to ask,” she said smiling sarcastically.

“Feel free,” I smiled back. I felt so cheesy having this conversation.

“Well how about you tell the class how the Ojibwa differs from the Dakota?”

“Well , the Ojibwa is the one with the Oral Tradition thing, right?” I asked unsure, I haven’t been paying attention since Jen (Jenifer Hintle) was talking about her new cat.

“Actually, Ms. Conner, both the Ojibwa and the Dakota had the Oral Tradition thing, maybe you will be paying more attention next time, right?” she asked  being annoying.

“What else is there to do?” I asked being as funny as I could during this moment.

“You smart ass!” Jen laughed getting to our table in lunch. I couldn’t yell at her for that, I was , sometimes these teachers get in head and the only way to get them out is through sarcasm. I have been kinda a “smart ass”  to Mrs. Ginshy ,all year actually, and now I think she kinda sort of despises me

“What can I say teachers are annoying!” I stated easily. We sat right in the middle of the huge cafeteria. Jen sat right next to me.

“What else is there to do? Really Nessia?,” Kaitlin  asked sitting on the other side of me, she continued , “It was hilarious!” Oh, Kaitlin Coust, a blonde headed girl with brown eyes.  Always has my back.

“ But you are kinda stupid.” Well, almost always has my back.

“What do you mean?!” I asked a little peeved by her statement.

“Mrs. Ginshy is evil , she might get you back somehow,” Kaitlin said as if she told this more than once.

“How would a teacher get me back, give me a bad grade,” I asked honestly. Can a  teacher give you a false grade?

“No, what about after school?” Kaitlin was starting to freak me out.

“Are you trying to say that after school Mrs. Ginshy is going to murder me?” I asked with a little bit of my fright showing. She nodded slowly. I looked at Jen she was agreeing with her. My eyes widened.  I looked at Kaitlin then back at Jen, then at Kaitlin then back at Jen. I saw Jen face slowly start to smile until she broke into a laugh.
