The Book that Kaitlin Gave Me

Of coarse I hated the fact that Kaitlin gave me a book about how to be a vampire. But then again, it’s still a book that shows you how to be a vampire. So, I read it.

                I thought I drank enough for the night, so I went down the stairs to my bedroom. I jumped onto my bed. I sighed.  It was so comfortable. So soft. But I had reading to do.

                I looked at the leathered cover with the red gothic title. Even though Julia told me a lot, she didn’t tell me everything.  I opened it to the first page. The pages were stained  with a light yellow color. The edges or the pages were ripped and torn. The cover looked so new, but as soon as you looked inside it’s like you went back in time to a different century.

I started to read:

            Congratulations , you have  become something  that is  unnatural, beautiful, and completely  perfect. Almost. This new life  is filled with danger and  temptation. What you can do is remember, your heart doesn’t beat, you are dead, you are not human.

            As you probably noticed already. Your eyes are  no longer it’s  original color. This is most likely the only color your eyes will be. Unless you are with humans, in which  your eyes will turn back by instinct to it’s original  human color. The only time this is not the case is when a human is about to find out about who you really are. As instinct this only happens in the moment, meaning your eyes will change a few moments before they find out. Hopefully they will never know.

            The sun will burn us to ashes, until you drink vampire blood. This probably won’t make sense to you, but you will soon understand. After you drink vampire  blood the blood will  flood  your veins and then changes  the  fairness of your skin so you can be in the sunlight.

            As far as sleep goes, you won’t . Legend of this was that vampires  tried sleeping but the smell of  living  breathing animal  and  human blood couldn’t make them sleep.  So, our instinct ever since was  to just stay up and to never sleep.

            Now, the most important thing that needs to be said, Day of Age.

Day of Age

            Day of Age is the most dangerous week of the vampires who participate in it’s lives.  Day of Age is a chosen week of each year for forever.  This is where the vampire blood ties in. This is a battle for your life. This is a fight between  you and one other vampire. You will fight until one vampire bites down on the  other vampire’s neck, killing them , permanently. No more chances.  And obviously when you bite down on their necks  you drink the blood inside of them.  Day of Age is extremely dangerous and is risky for all.

            Each  vampire you kill  you gain a year for what you look like. Example, If you’re 13 and you win you look like what you would of if you were a 14 year old human, but instead you’re a 14 year old vampire.  You can chose  if you only want to kill once or to get another challenger and gain another year on your life. It goes on and on as long as you want to keep getting a new challenger, as long as you survive that is.

            The more experienced you are the  better chance you have at winning at these games.  Meaning the older you are the more chance you have of  getting more years.
