Chapter 13

I was probably sitting there against the wall for a good hour or two as the tears still flowed freely from my eyes. Now, I was out of tears and I was practically dry heaving. I felt like I was going to throw up; I'm going to throw up.

Sprinting into the bathroom, I lifted the toilet seat just in time to get all of the disgusting substance into it. Flushing the toilet and brushing my teeth to try and get the taste out of my mouth, I tried clearing my head, tried to forget about the fact that Hayden had both mentally and physically harmed me. I think I'm gonna be sick again.

Holding it down, I stood up calmly and slowly made my way downstairs. I huffed in relief when I saw he was nowhere to be seen.

Carefully making my way through the disaster zone that was known as the living room, I found a supply closet after a few minutes of searching and faced the mess before me. I picked up broken pieces of glass first and then placed them in the garbage bin. When I was an inch away from stepping on a large shard, I put on a pair of shoes before getting back to work.

When the major pieces of glass were picked up, I went and fixed the couch cushions and the overturned tables and hung up a painting over the wall and more specifically over the scratched paint where Hayden had thrown the vase into last week.

God, Hayden.

Shaking the thought of him and all of his perfection and all of the hurt he brings me, I faced a smaller problem; the cracked TV.

Sighing, I left it alone and smiled triumphantly when I saw that everything was picked up off of the ground. Taking the vacuum, I made sure that the floor was clear of all glass before finishing up and taking the stuff upstairs and into his bedroom, cleaning everything up.

It was surprisingly easier to clean the bedroom, maybe it was because it was smaller. But, it was also really hard to clean up the blood that was on the wall.

Taking everything back downstairs, I took in a deep breath of preparation before opening the double doors to Hayden's office. With a small sigh, I got to work by starting off with picking up the books and placing them neatly on the bookshelves. I gathered stacks of papers and placed them on his desk, after I cleared that up, of course. Though, I couldn't exactly fix the dents of fingerprints in the wood.

Picking up some more broken glass, I vacuumed and smiled proudly at my work. It only took four and a half hours to clean up three rooms.

Well, I was smiling until I smelled that familiar scent of honey and pine. Turning around, I found Hayden looking around the office. He looked around the room and not waiting for him, I slipped past him and out the door, into the living room.

"Arleigh, wait!" He called out and I stopped in the middle of the room before continuing my trek up to the bedroom.

He stopped me before I could reach the staircase and spun me back around, grabbing my wrist. I couldn't help but wince when he grabbed my wrist, fearing a repeat of earlier today. He let go immediately, hurt, worry and caution in his expression. Pulling my wrist to my chest, I looked down at my feet.

Hayden sighed, "Arleigh, can we please talk? I need to talk to you."

Not responding in any way, I continued to stare down at my shoes. They were a pair of converse, cute, stylish and perfect for protecting your feet from piercing glass.

"Please?" He asked his voice cracking, and along with it so did my resolve. I looked up and into his grey, stormy eyes and I could see the regret clear as day in them. I knew that he felt terrible for what happened but it doesn't change the fact that it did happen.

"You hurt me," Is the only thing I say to him and now it's his turn to look down at his feet.

Looking back up, there's a pained expression on his face, "It was my wolf, Arleigh. He had completely taken over, he thought you wanted to leave us, thought you wanted to leave us! It was his weird way of trying to make you stay."

I folded my arms over my chest, "Well, I didn't want to leave."

"A-And what about now?" He questioned even though he looked like he didn't want to know the answer.

Sighing, I sat down on the couch, "I don't know, Hayden. I'm kind of sick of how bipolar you are."

He sat down acros from me, his elbows resting on his knees, "I know, I know I'm terrible. But with you, Arleigh, I'm less terrible and I need you. If you left me, god, I'd be a mess. It would kill me."

It hurt me to see him in pain and to know that I was part of the reason he was hurting, but he's hurt me so much more than this.

"I don't think I can do this," I whisper shaking my head. "Hayden, I want to go home."

"No," He said immediately.

I jumped up, "Hayden, take me home. I just need a break. Give me two days there."

"No!" He growls, jumping up as well and I was once again intimidated by his size and his eyes that were darkening, his wolf taking control again.

I glared at him, about ready to slap him. Opening my mouth to yell at him, we were interrupted by the front door being thrown open and Chad sprinting in, panting slighty, "Alpha, I-I'm so... Sorry to... Interrupt... But..."

"Spit it out!" Hayden demanded.

"The Blood Dawn Pack, sir," He wheezed, "We've just received word that the Blood Dawn Pack is declaring war on us."

Hayden began giving orders, spewing them out at rapid fire, but I, I sat back down on the couch, the whole world fading into the distance. My family, my own family, was declaring war on me.
