Chapter 22

Nicki pov-
While I was at Meeks house my brother Ciah had called me and said that Jelani had been in a very bad car accident and that he was in critical condition. Me, my mom, and Ciah were at the hospital I couldn't stop crying and neither could my mom. I felt even worse that our last conversation was an argument. After a while the doctor came out "Family of Jelani Maraj?" she said we all got up "Well we have bad news" she said "Ok what is it" my mom said "Jelani went through the wind shield and due to his injuries he's in a coma and it's we aren't able to know how long he will be in the coma and its also a high chance of death" she said "You all can go back there to see him if you want he's in room 211" she said "ok" we said walking off. Once we got in his room I instantly broke down seeing him like that, I wasn't in the mood to talk so I powered my phone off. "Onika you need to calm down stressing and crying isn't good for the baby" my mom said making Ciah look at me because he didn't know I was pregnant. Visiting hours were over, my mom and Ciah had left but I couldn't I walked over to him and grabbed his hand "Lani please, please don't leave me" I said crying. After 3 hours I was finally about to go home, I didn't want to but I had no choice visiting hours had been ended but the nurse let me stay a little longer. Once I got home I sat in my bed crying, hoping, praying my brother would make it. It was 5:16 AM and all I could think about was Jelani and the doctor saying he could possibly die, at this point I honestly don't know what to do or how to feel. I had finally fallen asleep but was awaken by a door shut, I knew I had locked the front door so it had to be my mom because she had the spare key. I looked at mt clock seeing it was 3:11 damn I thought to myself I didn't know I slept that long. My mom walked in my room I looked up at her seeing her eyes were bloodshot red, "Hey"I said "Im guessing you had a good sleep because you wasn't answering your phone" she said sitting on my bed "I powered it off" I said grabbing it off the dresser putting it on the charger "Any good news?" I asked sitting up "Well.... Yea kinda I guess you could say" she said "What does that mean" I asked confused "Baby your brother is in a better place now he doesn't have to suffer anymore" my mom said "So he died?" I asked "Yes Nicki he did" she said with watery eyes. I immediately broke down crying as hard as I had ever cried in my life "THIS IS THE WORST DAY OF MY FUCKING LIFE" I screamed crying non stop. My mom didn't wanna leave me home alone so she stayed with me as we both cried. I woke up the next day alone, my mom had to leave for work I told her to take time off but he bills wouldn't pay themselves. I hadn't talked to any body since everything happened ding I heard looking over seeing my phone light up with a text, my notifications were going crazy I seen a text from the group chat saying "Nicki is everything ok im praying for you and your family" "No need to pray he's dead." I said putting my phone down silencing it because I wasn't in the mood to talk. I hadn't ate since I first heard about the accident and I really don't have the appetite either, I was trying to get out of my bed so I could go use the bathroom but I wad stuck, my head was banging and everything was spinning. I grabbed my phone calling 911 "911 what's your emergency?" "I-i-im pregnant and I- help was all I said before passing out.

Meem pov-
Nicki had left the other night saying something about her brother. Id been texting her non stop but she has yet to respond one of the girls told me that she said her brother had passed so I decided to give her some space. Me and Papi were playing the game when Thembi had called me "What's up Thumb girl" I said "Meek Nicki is in the hospital and the baby isn't doing well" she said "WHAT, WHAT HAPPENED TO HER" I yelled "I don't know just yet" she said and after that she gave me the hospital she was at. I didn't wanna take Papi because I don't know if I want him to see her like this I took him to his mom and hurried to the hospital, the doctors said that she'd fainted due to dehydration and that we could go see her "Wait, what about our baby?" I asked scared "Oh im sorry I forgot to mention that the baby is fine but Ms.Maraj will need to stay on bed rest for a week and have someone there with her at all times" the doctor said me and Nickis mom both nodded.... Oh what a great way for us to meet right? We had talked and she told me about the whole accident and that Nikis brother passed and she obviously wasn't taking it well.
