The next morning I was woken up to raucous laughter. The demons were rolling on their sides almost passed out. I stared in wonder as I watched the live footage of the angels being apprehended by police officers and getting repeatedly tasered. Aloise was staring at Claud as he had gone mad and Ceil was quietly drinking his tea with a calm smile on his face. I turned to the fridge to get out materials for breakfast but screamed when the Undertaker tumbled out of the freezer. My mom rushed down stairs at my scream and Anthony poked his head around the corner.
Long story short... The undertaker was practically beaten out of my house by my mom wielding a vacuum cleaner... Anthony and I just exchanged looks, but my brother just sighed and I introduced him to our "foreign guests".
Anthony instantly became good friends with all if the characters and I was not surprised to over hear him explaining the mechanics of a drone. Sebastian was particularly interested in this information as he remembered seeing me pilot it. When Anthony learned I had stolen his drone and fought off demons with it he grumbled and said he wished he was more involved with our adventures.
"As much as I would like for someone to take over for babysitting these characters-"
Anthony's face lit up.
"-They are going back to their own world today."
"Lady Annabell, do you even know how to send us back?" asked Sebastian.
"I've got an idea," I replied with as much confidence as I could.
After breakfast I got all of the characters out into my backyard (aka a forest) and made sure that we were not visible.
"Alright, listen up! I had a long conversation with the undertaker a while back and I may have the reason why you all came here and how I can send you back. According to the undertaker, I have what is called a Shattered soul or rather, not all of me is in one body. Different fragments of my soul are scattered across multiple fictional universes and I have connections to those universes because of it. You all were able to find that "link" to my world and made it in. To send you back... Well I'm...uh.. Going into this blind so I have no idea what is going to happen. "
I saw all of the characters visibly wince.
"Hey, I know my ideas aren't always good but let's give this a try. If I do this right then you all should be able to visit me when ever you want. "
"and if you don't?" inquired Aloise.
"It may result in a giant, deadly fireball that wipes out my entire town," I said.
I saw Ciel's eyes widen, but I laughed.
"just joking about the fireball part."
"that was not funny Lady Annabell..." Claude mumbled.
"OK, I'm sorry,"I said," now, I have an idea on how to create your way back so just bear with me. "
I faced the characters and closed my eyes. I brought up an image of my world and their world edging closer together. I imagined I saw a bright white bridge spanning the gap between us but as hard as I tried the bridge only seemed to appear half completed. One edge of the bridge would trail off into nothingness while the remaining half still glowed bright. I finally gave up trying to complete the structure and raised my hands as if to tear the fabric of my world apart.
It worked.
The fabrication of my universe cracked at my fingertips as I pried open a gap just large enough for a person to squeeze through. The characters gathered around the opening and already they appeared even lest real. Their atoms were slowly being drawn into that other world that was not my own.
"Thank you Lady Annabell," said Claude and he squeezed into the glowing hole. Aloise was next and gave a lingering hug before disappearing. Ceil simply smiled at me before awkwardly side hugging me before he too vanished. Sebastian was the last one left and bowed deeply at the waist before taking my hand and squeezing it firmly before pacing through the gap.
I watched them go before the opening collapsed in on itself and breathed a sigh of relief. I hoped that this would be the last of fictional characters for my life. I was happy to have met them, but our worlds were set apart for reasons I knew and many more I didn't. The late evening sun chased me inside the house and my mom easily believed the lie of the exchange students leaving. Anthony was still intrigued with my shattered soul and I was only really comfortable talking about it with him. Many months passed and I did not hear a word from the characters of Black Butler. I watched their actions on screens instead of right in front of me and marveled at what the creators thought of. I enjoyed my life and let it settle back into its routine. Little did I know, this was only the beginning of where my shattered soul would lead me.
