I've found that Marid has become more of a bully than an acquaintance. He picks on me daily, asking me questions he knows I won't feel comfortable with, or simply asking me for my homework if he really wants to cut to the chase. He's not the same kid he once was when I met him: the starry-eyed boy with plump cheeks, messy hair, and a love for literature. Now his face has hardened, lacking whatever excitement it may have previously held as a grimace seemed to be his default expression. Maybe he only looks like that when he stares at me, who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.
