"So...see any cute girls here?" Keri smiled as she dried herself with her towel.
Cam and Keri had just gotten out of the ocean and they were sitting on a laid out towel. In the water, Jack was talking to a girl his age and Mason was eating.
"Um, some," Cam laughed, avoiding her eyes. He rubbed the towel over his hair, ridding some of the water.
"You should totally try to hook up with one of them! I mean, it's summer. That's what you're supposed to do."
"I totally agree with Keri," Mason said with a mouthful of chips. "Me and you should go out to find girls, while Keri babysits Jack," he started to laugh. "I mean, unless you want to hook up with me," he said to Keri.
She rolled her eyes and playfully smacked Mason. Cam ran a hand through his hair, shifting his eyes away from the half naked girl near him.
Keri began braiding her hair and secretly watched Cam. He was observing the setting as he relaxed on the beach.
When they were friends, there were a lot of quiet moments between them, but it wasn't a bad thing. They spent a lot of time thinking about everything. Then they would ask each other random questions and get into an in-depth conversation about whatever it was.
Keri hadn't had a deep conversation since then. Now she only spoke about boys, nails, shopping, and other topics like that.
"You're cute, but I only hook up with older boys," Keri sneered, looking back at Mason. Mason poked his bottom lip out and batted his eyelashes.
"You broke my heart," he joked.
"Aw, I'm sorry, sweetie," she laughed.
Cam looked over to Mason and smirked. Keri didn't even think he was listening to the conversation until now.
"And besides, I'm sure your girlfriend wouldn't approve," Cam teased his brother. Mason rolled his eyes in response.
Although Cam and Mason looked almost identical, their personalities were polar opposites. Cam was more reserved, humble, and honest, whereas Mason was more outspoken and took risks.
"And you have a girlfriend!?" Keri hit him again. Even though Keri thought Mason was attractive, she stuck to her word.
She only hooked up with older guys.
Later that day, they decided to go home because Jack was getting tired.
"You hooked up with him?" Keri said into her phone. Keri, Cam, Mason, and Jack were walking back to their beach house.
"Yeah. He has an older brother too. I talked you up and I'm sure you'll like him," Rebecca said.
"Is he cute?" Keri grinned into her phone. Usually the guys Rebecca set Keri up with were hot. Like Hollister model hot.
"Really cute. So how's the trip? Is it as horrible as you thought it'd be?" Rebecca giggled on the other end.
Keri laughed awkwardly. Her eyes shifted to Cam. "Um, no. It's pretty nice right now."
"Ooo, good. All right, well I'll let you go now. Bye, girly."
"Bye, I'll talk to you later."
Keri readjusted her towel, that was hanging from her hips like a skirt. Cam was talking to Jack about his new friend.
For some reason, Keri didn't feel excited about hooking up with someone's hot older brother. And that said something.
Some people played sports for fun, while Keri and Rebecca picked people to be their next victims in their heartbreaking game.
Her eyes glanced over to Cam. He carried his towel in one hand while holding onto Jack's hand. He seemed so protective over his younger brother. Keri smiled a little at the sight.
He hasn't changed a bit, she thought to herself.
She had even took notice of his back muscles.
Nothing beats back muscles.
Nothing.
She quickly directed her attention away from him.
They reached the beach house and found their parents laughing in the kitchen with drinks in their hands.
"Did you guys have a good time?" Mrs. Hastings asked. It was clear that she was somewhat tipsy.
All of the children replied with a "yeah" and went upstairs to wash up.
For some reason, Keri couldn't stop thinking about Cam and that guy Rebecca was trying to hook her up with.
