The two had finally reached the house. They had went to the beach so Keri could sober up a little before going inside.
A full moon reflected off of the ocean and the clouds from earlier had disappeared. The weather was cooler than earlier, but it was still fairly warm out.
Keri laid down on the sand with her eyes closed while Cam sat next to her. They were both quiet and preoccupied with their own cogitations.
I'm such a screwup, her thoughts had haunted her.
She couldn't stop thinking about all of the mistakes and poor decisions she had made in her life.
Through most of the vacation, she couldn't stop the guilty emotions she felt when she thought of what she did to Cam. It consumed her mind.
After changing her personality and her appearance, she thought that this sort of thing wouldn't bother her. But it did. Even if it was in the past, it felt like a fresh wound.
Perhaps it would help if Cam had forgave her for what she did. Or maybe she should try to forgive herself.
She chewed on a mint while she listened to the waves crash at the shore.
Cam pushed her hair out of her face, causing Keri's eyes to flutter open. A bashful smile formed on her lips and she sat up.
She wasn't aware of most of her senses, but that didn't stop what was about to happen.
"That girl was all over you," Keri said with a tight smile.
"No she wasn't," Cam laughed a little. He ran his hand through his hair. Keri rolled her eyes and turned her head away from him.
"You're so blind," she mumbled as she faced him again. "She was drooling over you. She had to touch you every five seconds."
"If you say so."
"It's true!" Keri argued. "You're so sweet," she copied the girl. Keri leaned closer to Cam and placed her hand on his chest. "You're so humble...and caring..." Her eyes flickered around his face.
His eyes intently watched hers, ocassionally glancing to her lips. Keri's hand shifted to his shoulder while he placed his on her waist.
"You're so perfect," she said it in almost a whisper.
The waves near them became quieter and the frogs in the trees started to sing a mellow song.
"Is this why you were acting like that in the bar?" He spoke in a soft tone. "Were you jealous?" A small smirk appeared on his face as they both leaned closer to each other.
"Maybe." A guilty laugh escaped her lips. "I just wanted tonight to be about us."
"It still can be..."
Keri's eyes were focused on his mouth.
She was finally going to get what she wanted.
Their faces were inches apart. One move and their lips would have met.
Keri's heart started to beat faster and faster. She had nervously shifted, making Cam's grip tighten a little and pull her closer to him.
Was she sure she wanted to do this? Of course she had planned on hooking up with him, but that was different. That was when she was the new Keri. Now, she was the old Keri that Cam knew and everyone else ignored.
Keri's eyes desperately looked down at Cam's lips. She wanted them. She craved them.
She had never wanted something--someone-- so badly in her life. She had never experienced such raw emotions towards a boy.
She moved closer and glanced back to his eyes. He seemed to give her the okay, so she leaned in, and touched their lips together.
Cam's soft lips moved in sync with Keri's. She clutched onto him and pressed their chests together, while pulling him closer to her. She could smell his cologne, which made her stomach flutter and her heart skip a beat.
A soft moan came from her lips while their bodies shifted. She laid down while he hovered over top of her with his hand on her hip. Keri, on the other hand, ran her fingers through his hair.
His mouth slowly started to trail to her jawline, causing goosebumps to rise on Keri's skin. Her hands moved to the hem of his shirt and she began to tug.
He pulled away, realizing what was happening, and got off of her.
"Why did you stop?" Keri sat up. Cam ran his hand through his hair.
"You're drunk."
"So?"
He looked over to her, staring at her like she was missing the point. "I'm not going to be just some meaningless fling to you."
"What?" Her eyebrows pulled together. "That's not what this is. And I'm not even that drunk anymore."
"Then if you mean it, we can continue this tomorrow. That's of course if you remember any of this."
Keri's heart had sunk. She had finally got what she wanted. She had started to hook up with Cam. That meant that she had completed her goal.
So how come she wasn't happy?
