“Okay.” I said to my dad. “I really have to go.”

“I don’t want to let you go.” He told me.

“I love you.” I laughed. “But I need this.”

“What if your mom comes back?”

“Call the cops.” I smiled and widened my eyes.

“I love you so much.” He told me. “Call if you need anything.”

“I will.” I laughed. “But I need to leave right now.”

“Bye honey.”

“Bye dad.” I smiled and climbed in the driver’s seat of my car.

My car got better gas mileage than Aaron’s car, plus it had more leg space in the back so we decided my car was better to take. I shut the door and started up my car. Johnson sat in the front seat with Matt and Aaron in the back.

I backed out of the driveway as Carter pulled out of my ditch, Taylor doing the same. I followed behind them as Bart followed behind me in his car.

“So did not miss these long car drives.” Johnson said as he held his hand out. I placed my hand inside on his.

“I think it’ll be okay.” I shrugged. “It’s like four hours.”

“It’s actually closer to five.” Matthew leaned closer.

“Well I’m driving a lot of the way.” I said. “So suck it up.”

“We need music.” Jack said and plugged his phone in and pressed shuffle. Shake it off by Taylor Swift started playing.

I chuckled as I looked over at him.
“Shut up, she has good music.”

“Don’t tell me to shut up.” I laughed as I hit his chest lightly.

He grabbed my hand and laughed. He put it to his lips and kissed it.

“Cliché bastard.” I smiled and pulled my hand away.

“I was trying to be cute.”

“Oops.” I smiled at him.

My eyes fluttered open and I saw it was dark outside. Johnson was driving the last shift to Houston. Carter’s car got a flat about an hour after we left so we had to stop for a long time and wait for triple A. I sat up in my seat and looked to Johnson.

“Hey, you’re awake.”

“Where are we?”

“Seven Oaks, Texas.” He laughed.

“We’re still an hour and a half away?”

“That’s if traffic lets up.” He said as I looked out the front window.

“This town is small as hell, why is there so much traffic?”

He pointed up above and I moved my head to look. I saw a helicopter.

“There’s a really bad crash.”

I groaned and leaned back, “well I’m hungry.”

“Call Gilinsky, he’s with Carter. Then Nash is with Taylor and Cam is with Bart.”

I nodded and pressed the home button on my phone but it didn’t light up.

“My phone is dead.” I said.

“Aaron stole your charger.” He said and took his phone from his pocket. He used his finger to unlock it and handed it to me. “Here and you might as well put your finger print in there.”
