I walked into my house, leaving my bags in the car.

“Dad?” I asked.

It was about seven AM and I hadn’t slept. I took the whole night to drive home.

“Elizabeth.” He said as I walked into the kitchen.

I was met with him and a blonde boy. He was about six foot and had large arms. His jaw line was sharp and his cheek bones perfect.

“Hey.” I said, looking between the two.

“Elizabeth.” My dad said. “Your mother and I have been keeping a big secret.”

I pulled out a stool and sat on it. I looked at him, wanting him to continue.

“This is Connor, your brother.” He said and looked at the boy.

“Brother?” I asked and looked between them.

“Before Sarah, we had a boy but we were broke and gave him up for adoption.” My dad explained. “But he’s back.”

I looked to the boy, “hey.”

“Hi.”

“Oh my god!” I laughed, bending over as I tried not to spill my water. “There’s no way that happened.”

“It really did.” Connor laughed. “I swear on my life.”

“That’s so crazy.”

“Promise me if you ever meet Selena Gomez, don’t spill coffee on her.”

“I wouldn’t think about it.” I laughed, my phone started to ring. I grabbed it and saw it was Aaron. “Sorry, I need to take this.”

I sat my water down and stood up. I answered the phone and stepped onto the back patio.

“Ellie! Where the hell are you?” Aaron asked.

“My dad called me last night.” I said. “I have a brother Aaron.”

“What?”

“My parents had a boy three years before Sarah.” I said. “He’s here, at my house.”

“You made that drive in one night by yourself?”

“I had to, my dad made it seem so urgent.”

“Well Bart is pissed, so are some of the guys.” He said. “I’ll just tell them what’s going on.”

“No!” I said. “Don’t tell them about my brother, not yet.”

“Why?”

“It’s personal.” I said.

“Back to this?”

“Look, I know this is annoying but I want to keep this to myself.”

“Are you going to tell J?”

“Not yet.” I said.

“Whatever, bye.” He said and hung up.

I shook my head and walked back into the house. My dad walked out of his room as I approached Connor on the couch.

“Hey, I’m going grocery shopping.” He said. “Would you two like to join?”

I shook my head, “I haven’t gotten any sleep so I think I’m going to go do that.”

“I’ll come with.” Connor said.

“We’ll be home soon.” My dad said and kissed my forehead.
