Thirteen: Scarlet's Aftermath

Scarlet's Pov:

The sun was just rising from the horizon when I crossed out of the territory. I kept running and started to wonder when the next territory would begin. 'We should try to call ahead or ask permission before going forward.' Crystal said. She was silent since we left and I wanted her to have her time to think everything over. 'How do we do that?' 'There is this thing I overheard at the corner of where a territory starts. It's a bunch of guards that we see if you're a harm. If you aren't they'll guide you out of the territory.' I'll lead the way.' That's good. Thanks Crystal.' I let her fully take over and continued to think.

I started to think about what Zachary did after I left. I know he slept with someone, the bond was still strong enough to fell it. No doubt he'll get a new Luna instead of finding his second chance mate. Hell, if the Moon Goddess is smart she'll never give him another mate again. I know one thing's for sure, I'll never go back there. Even if I wanted to the pack will be trained to think that I am a harm and kill me. 'Scarlet?' I snapped out of my thoughts. 'Yeah Crystal?' 'Let's make a promise to never go back to him. No matter what. Even if he changed for the better, I don't want him.' 'Of course Crystal. We'll find our second chance mate. If he isn't better than maybe we can be like a normal human and date. Unless you want to be a lone wolf.' 'Let's take this one step at a time. We should wash in a river that's coming up to rehide our scent. Then pass through each territory at a time. Maybe even ask them if they could warn upcoming packs. Then get to the Moonlight Pack and settle down. Maybe lay low and get a job or something. Then I think if we don't find our mate there, we can move to Paris.'

I mentally nodded at her words. It would be nice not living in fear of Markus and now Zachary. I can relive my life in Paris and never return. Even though I would be crossing state lines, it still wouldn't be enough distance. Crystal told me to take over and shift. I listen and grabbed a t-shirt and shorts from my first pack. If I had to quickly shift, I rather rip something old than new. I walked with my bag until I smelled other wolves. "Hello." I figured it was best to let them know I was here. "I wanted to know if I could pass through your land." I finally came in view of the guards. There wasn't a Beta but there was some high ranking warriors there. "Name and ranking." One barked out. "Scar and a lone wolf." I decided not to give my full name just in case. "You're related to Luke Norma aren't you?" I paused but slowly nodded.

"She's safe to pass. Here, I'll guide you through so that no guards on work will attack you. But if you should rest up first. It will be safer than the woods." The one warrior said and I nodded.  Luke must of called ahead and did this for me. Or Alpha Markus. Or my fake mate. Crystal growled at the mention of Zachary. 'Luke called ahead to let us pass safely. Which means Zachary gave away where we were.' I wanted to turn around and go punch him but I continued to walk with the guard.

"When Luke called up he wanted to make sure all packs would let you pass through safely. I'm afraid you can't go in the pack house since it would be tough to have everyone from not telling Alpha Markus where you are. There's a house not far off. It's meant for lone wolves anyways and has food and clothes ready. I'll show you it and all you have to do is stay inside and I'll make sure no one gets close to it. You can shower and even restock with food and clothes. "Thank you." I know I shouldn't trust someone this soon, considering what happened last time, but Crystal had enough strength now to destroy an entire pack. So yes, I don't have to worry.

He showed me the house and gave me a quick tour. It was like a cabin and I realized if I wanted to live by myself I would buy one of these. I quickly showered and ate since I could have to make a run at a moments notice. I restocked everything and rewrapped my bruise. I looked and saw that it was slightly worse from running. I packed some medical stuff for it and looked in the mirror. My mark from him was gone, and so was the scar from Markus. 'Maybe we'll keep it that way.' 'Maybe it's Maybelline.' I decide to ignore it for now and sleep. I'll leave tomorrow and move on to the next pack.

Each pack I passed through acted very similarly. They asked for my name and ranking, I's tell them and they let me sleep on their land in a house away from the pack house. Then I could shower and sleep and be on my way. I was on my last pack now. After this I would be in the Moonlight Pack territory. I was running in wolf form, with a warrior next to me, when some wolf jumped out and tried to attack him. From the red in his eyes I knew it was a rouge. I jumped and tackled him to the ground. It tried to bite my neck and I snapped back.

The warrior bit him in a spot and the rouge stopped moving. The warrior moved his head to my bag and I grabbed it and shifted behind some brushes. When I came out he was in some shorts. "Did you kill him?" I would understand with killing a rouge like that. He made to kill us. "Nope. It's a technique to put wolves to sleep for a bit. We'll have him questioned first and then if they're too dangerous, they'll be killed." The first part caught my interest. "Is that technique a secret or could you teach me it?"

"It's not well known but I can teach you. It is dangerous however since if you're not careful you could seriously injure or kill the wolf. All you have to do is bite the wolf in the shoulder above the bone. This puts them to sleep." "Thank you, if I get attacked in the woods I can try it." "Just remember, above the shoulder bone." As he finished saying this, two more warriors came out of the woods. "Take him to the cells. Be careful he is dangerous." The two nodded and left with the rouge. "Now let's continue." We continued in human form to the edge of the territory. "I'll leave you here. Have safe travels." "I will, and thank you again." I went behind a bush to shift and ran to the next territory. Moonlight Pack here I come.
