Two: Mate?

Scarlet's Pov:

I've been running now for two weeks straight. I had a little food from the pack house left. Every three nights I change clothes and go to a cheap motel for the night. I take a shower and leave the next morning. Rouges keep trying to attack me for my money and food, but I have always beaten them. I have, however, left with scratches and bruises. More to add to my collection I guess.

'We need to sleep.' Crystal said. 'Okay.' I said. I shifted back into my human form, put on some clothes, and climbed a tree. Then I secure myself with a rope and feel into a dreamless sleep.

I woke up to screaming. "Hey you, rouge. Get down from there or else your punishment will be much worse." A voice called and I woke up and looked down to see about five people, staring at me with hate. I looked down at them confused.

'I don't even know them, what did I do wrong?' I asked Crystal. 'Didn't you hear them, we're a rouge now. This must be pack territory.' Crystal said. I quickly untie my ropes, and went to grab my bag but one of the people had it. So instead I climbed down and stand at the base of the tree.

"I mean no harm. I didn't know that this was pack territory and I-" I started to say until the person in the middle, who must be the Beta, shouted at me. "Silence! That's what all rouges say! You're going to the dungeons!" The Beta said and two people, who must be pack warriors, grabbed me by my arms and forced me to follow them.

We walked for a little while until we got to a medium size, brick building that was painted gray. They took me to the second level and threw me in a cell. "Wait till the Alpha comes down. I hope you're ready for tonight." The Beta said smirking and walking away.

'Well..... Now what?' Crystal asked. 'You know, if you would have just let me kill myself, then we wouldn't have to deal with this torture.' I told Crystal. 'Please, tonight if they harm us, let me take the beating. You healed a little bit but not enough to take a lot more.' Crystal said.

'I can't let you do that Crystal. We are weaker than they think. If you let me take this punishment tonight, then we will be done with this torture.' I said.

'But our mate-' 'We don't have a mate Crystal. He would reject us at first glance. If we die, then he will be given a second mate. And he will only know of her as his first. Let me end it tonight.' I said and Crystal was quite. 'Fine, I suppose you are right.' Crystal said.

I closed off the mind link and decided to have my last few hours before torture and death to be peaceful. I closed my eyes and went to sleep.

Zachary's Pov:

I was finishing up some pack work when my Beta mind linked me. 'Alpha, there's a rouge in human form tied up in a tree. What should we do?' My Beta said. 'Wake them up and take them to the cells. I'll deal with them tonight.' I mind linked back and then I disconnect the mind link.

A few minutes later my wolf was being a bit off. I took it as just him being crazy today and ignored him. A few hours later I went down to the cells to finish off the rouge. My wolf growled at that, which I didn't understand. I shook it off and continued to walk down to the cell the rouge is in.

My wolf grew crazier as we reached the cell. I didn't know what was going on until I sniffed the air. I smelled strawberries and smoke. Two weird combinations but it smelled so good. I felt a strange force pulling me to a certain cage. I walked their and looked in.

There was a girl with many busies and cuts on her. 'MATE!' My wolf, Samson, howled. 'Who did this to mate?! I will kill them all!' He hollered. 'Calm down! Remember that I can hear you perfectly fine without you screaming.' I said. 'Aren't you worried about mate?' My wolf asked and I was quite.

I had a bad account with girls in the past. Now I go from girl to girl and make sure to never get attached to them. But I feel an urge to protect her from the people who harmed her, and to hurt the people who treated he so badly.

'Give mate a chance. If she is like other girls, then you can reject her.' Sam said. 'Fine.' I said. I grabbed the keys to unlock the cage, then I walked in. She must have heard or smelled me cause she looked up.

Once she sniffed the air she looked at me. Her confused face turned into a scared one as she backed into the wall and shrink into a ball. I frowned and just looked at her. 'Why is she afraid?' I asked my wolf. 'She probably thinks we're going to hurt her.' Sam said. 'Well what should I do?' 'Approach her carefully.' Sam said and I did, which caused her to shriek and tremble.

Scarlet's Pov:

'Don't be afraid of mate.' Crystal said but I didn't listen. 'He's an alpha. He'll be exactly the same as Alpha Markus.' I said. 'First off, Markus isn't our 'alpha' anymore. He didn't deserve that title and he never will. Besides you said that you would give our mate a shot. He didn't reject yet so that's good isn't it?' Crystal asked. 'Okay fine.' I said.

"What's your name?" He asked, his voice husky and made me melt. "Sc-Scarlet." I managed to say and he smiled. "Scarlet. That's a beautiful name. I am Zachary." He said and I blushed. Wait?! Did I really just blush? I looked down, using my hair as a shield.

"Come on." He said holding out his hand. "Wh-where are we go-going?" I asked scared and he frowned again. "Don't worry. We're going to the pack house." He said. I took his hand hesitantly, and I let him lead the way.

We walked along and up to the pack house. Well more like mansion. "What pack a-are you in?" I asked. "The Black Soul Pack." He said and I stopped dead in my tracks. 'Uh oh.' I thought. "So yo-you the a-alpha of the Bl-Black Soul Pa-Pack?" I asked him and he nodded. That all I saw until I blacked out.
