"Hey Y/n,"
"Hey," I waved back, Its been a month since I moved here I'm getting used to it especially to my new friend Dahyun, in those times I learned that she was 2 years younger than me, after she knew that I was older than her she started calling me unnie but I insisted her to drop off the honorifics and just call me by my name. And she also have a little brother. Remember that boy who jumped from the ship when I first got here? Yup it's him. What a coincidence right?
"So how's your job goin? Anything new?" She handed me a glass of orange juice.
"Thank you," I grab it and took a sip, she sat beside me. "I'm doing fine and no nothing new, just the same patients as usual." I work as a nurse at Hospital, just a part timer. To be honest this island is pretty huge for an island I mean it has a population of 1,000 families.
"I see," we took a moment to relax and be silent for a while, admiring the view that lies in front of our eyes.
It's my day off so I got to spend some time with Dahyun, she's the only one who I spoke to personally. I mean I also speak to other people but it was necessary to do so, you get what I mean?"So y/n wh-" she started, "NOONA APPA IS LOOKING FOR YOU!" Dahyun hissed, at the sudden interruption.
"YAH!" She shouted back, irritated. She turn her head towards me, "I'm so sorry y/n unnie but I got to go, duty calls," she sighed as she stood up and dust off the sand on her, "Nah don't worry it's fine you can go," she looked a bit hesitant, "Are you sure you'll be okay by yourself?"
I nodded, "Okay then, I'll see you later," I waved back at her "And drop the unnie thing!" She turned around gave me a sheepish smile, I chuckled.
I saw her hitting her brother in the butt and her brother repaid back at her by kicking hers also, I heard her shouting his name in fury while chasing him, I chuckled at the scene. I watch them bickering until they disappeared from my sight.
I turn to look around at the ocean again, slightly enjoying the peaceful time.
Until I saw something, on the ocean. I immediately stood up alarmed and ran towards it. Not bothering about how cold the water is. Just as I was about to get close to it, it suddenly disappeared.
"Damn it," I cursed under my breath slapping the water. I was really sure I just saw something! I stayed on the water still looking around just in case it'll appear again, but sadly it never did. I have no choice but to go back on the surface.
Feeling the breeze of the winter air, I hugged myself suddenly feeling cold. I grab the glass and put on my slippers, going back to my house. While walking, that thought didn't really fail to bug me. Am I hallucinating? I swear I just saw something peeked off from the ocean.
Maybe it was just a person having a fun swim, or maybe someone fishing or anything. But who would dare to swim in this kind of weather? Right?
I stopped thinking about it when I suddenly felt a slight tingle of pain in my head, rubbing my temples attempting to lose the pain. Finally I reached my house and carefully climb on the stairs, once I've reached the top, I closed the door behind me, locking it.
I inherited this house from my great great grandfather, The truth is the reason why I came to this island in the first place is because it's my only last choice, I had nowhere to go. My aunt and uncles lives in another part of the country, My grandma and grandpa from my father's side?
I never knew them, I haven't known my father since I was born. Mom never showed any pictures of him to me, it was just me and my mom. Until, that happened.I closed the windows and head off to the kitchen preparing myself a lunch. Even though in this cold weather this house still managed to be warm and cozy inside despite of how thin the walls looks. I think it's quite magical If you ask me.
No one knew it though, that I was a distant relative of the owner of this house. It's not that I'm ashamed of it or anything, I just don't want anyone to know about those kinds of personal informations about me, I prefer this way.
I sat on the couch and opened the television, casually flipping through the channels, looking for something worth to watch until I came across to this guy who looked like he was some kind of an archaeologist in some channel called 'Mythical Creatures' . I pressed the volume up and clutched my blankets closer to me, to feel more warm. Putting down the remote I grabbed my lunch from the coffee table and took a bite, not breaking eye contact to the television.
I kept on watching until I came to learn that he was not an archaeologist but a person called Cryptozoologist. Cryptozoologist, are people who aims to prove the existence of from the folklore stories, such as Bigfoot or chupacabras. You know those kinds of non-existing things like mythical creatures.
In this case they were looking for a creature called Gumiho. This channel is kind of interesting, but I find it kinda disturbing at the same time. Like why would they disturb a living creature living peacefully in its home, just imagine if you were in its place and someone just ruined that peaceful times, must be horrible.
I understand that they just wanted to prove their existence and show to the people how amazing those creatures are, but what will they do if they find them?
Will they lock them up and use them for some kind of amusement park, a display or an experiment for a scientific research?
It's not that I'm holding a grudge on them it's just I wish that they would just leave the creature on its own after they've found it.
Not wanting to know more about what happened next I changed the channel to the next one, I smiled at the scene.
It was a pet channel, like a show about pet animals on how they behave and how adorable they looked!
I giggled at the sight of an extremely cute cat, its fur is so white and fluffy makes you wanna feel and pet that fur, ugh.
Watching all these makes me wanna adopt a pet cat.
