My cheeks and ears immediately turned red. He laughed. "Don't worry. I'm gonna stay in my mom's room. She'll stay here with you. Besides I'm not even interested."
"I think your eyes think otherwise. You called me beautiful," I teased him.
He lost his composure for a second and then he continued explaining his plan. "How did you...I'll inform the king about the room switch. Then you are safe for now. The king won't enter my mother's room without knocking. I'll explain the situation to my mother. I'm sure she'll understand," he said while walking towards the door. "Just stay put for now, okay?" he said before he winked at me. "Okay," I answered before he left and closed the door. I heard he locked the door from the outside. There I was alone in a room again. What am I supposed to do? Can I trust Gideon? Why would he all of a sudden help me? What if he's captured me now? I searched around the room for something I could use as a weapon. A few moments later the door unlocked. Someone opened the door. Waiting to see his or her face I got into a fighting stance.
When I saw the face of the person who had entered the room I relaxed.
"Hello, dear," Gideon's mom said while walking towards me. She was the other middle-aged woman from back then. She defended me when I got my death sentence. She grabbed my hands and held them firmly. "Are you alright?" she asked softly. I fell into her arms and started crying. She reminded me of my own mother. "I'm so...so...sorry I'm crying on...your...your shoulder," I said while crying. I don't know why I was crying. Probably because I was so confused and lost. I don't know if I'm hallucinating or just going insane. I guess the comfort Gideon's mom gave was the only thing that made me feel sane.
"It's okay, dear. Cry all you want. I won't leave ya," she said while patting my back. After I dried my tears, we sat down on the bed and talked.
"I'm Gideon's mom as you may know. But you can call me Anne," she said with a smile. Anne was so nice to me. With her presence I felt safe. My doubt in Gideon started to fade. I was too tired to be on my guard. "And what is your name, dear?" she asked. "Ivy," answered. Let's pretend I'm Ivy for now. I tried to explain what I've been going through.
"Sometimes I end up somewhere and have no idea how I got there."
"May be you have amnesia?" Anne suggested. I nodded. I guess some words are the same as the words of the real world. A few moments later Gideon entered the room with a pillow and some bedsheets in his arms.
"I managed to get these for you," he said. He put them down on the enormous bed Anne and I were sitting on. He gave Anne a kiss on her cheek, wished us good night and left.
"He is the best son I could've ever wished for," Anne said after Gideon left.
"I can see why,' I said. '
"Is it realy okay with you to share the bed. I can sleep on the floor,"'I said.
"Nonsense. Come here Ivy," she said as she climbed in bed,' Anne said. I also climbed in bed and slept on the left side. Before I knew it, I fell asleep.
The next morning I woke up to a scream. I yawned. I tried to stretch my arms. Then I noticed my wrists were bound together... I laid on heaps of hay. I looked around and saw I was put into a room with no windows only a few holes. I looked around and saw that the walls were made of stone. "Hello?" I said. No reaction. I looked up and saw a ray of light. All of a sudden a hidden door opened. A guard entered the room. "You, stand up" the queen has requested your presence!' the guard said. I trembled. I did as I was told. The guard blindfolded me and brought me to, from what I could hear, a crowded place. Then all of a sudden everyone stopped talking except two women.
"Your majesty, I think you should let the girl plead her case,"I heard a woman say.
"And give her a chance to escape again? I don't think so!" another woman said strictly. It didn't take me long to figure out who they were. It was Anne talking to the queen. "Take off the blindfold!" the queen shouted.
