CHAPTER TWO:

THE SINGING LADY

"Welcome." Professor Albus Dumbledore greets. He was the Headmaster of Hogwarts. "Welcome to another year at Hogwarts. I have a few things to say before we become befuddled by our excellent feast. I am particularly looking forward to the flaming kiwi cup, which while somewhat treacherous for those of us with facial hair..."

    McGonagall cleared her throat.

Aurora looked around the feast around the Great Hall. The first year's all tapped their feet anxiously against the ancient floorboards. The Professor's all listened to Dumbledore. Arching an eyebrow, she turned towards the Hufflepuff table, a few faces saw her and smiled.

Aurora wouldn't say she was popular.

Although ask any person in Hogwarts and they would say different. She did have a rather outgoing personality. She spoke to everyone. She didn't particularly understand shy people, Luke always told her that. Sometimes she even thought she was too outspoken. Aurora had only a close group of people she trusted in Hogwarts: Ron, Harry, Hermione and especially Luke.

She felt a nudge in her ribs. and she sent a look to Hermione who gestured for her to clap along with the speech.

    She gave one singular clap.

"As you will all be aware after their search of the Hogwarts Express, our school is presently playing host to some of the Dementors of Azkaban, who are here on Ministry of Magic business."

"The Ministry is sending them here?" Aurora says lowly. "How long before they have full control over what happens here."

    "Not likely." Hermione replies.

"They are stationed at every entrance to the grounds, and while they are with us, I must make it plain that nobody is to leave school without permission. Dementors are not to be fooled by tricks or disguises, or even Invisibility Cloaks," he added blandly, and Harry and Ron glanced at each other. "It is not in the nature of a Dementor to understand pleading or excuses. I, therefore, warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. I look to the prefects, and our new Head Boy and Girl, to make sure that no student runs afoul of the Dementors."

Aurora and Harry both looked down at Ron's older brother, Percy.

     "What a git," Harry mentions.
