CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX:

CONJOINED

★ ★ ★

"Oh, you have to be fucking kidding me." Aurora whispered.

Her eyes narrow towards Voldemort. He was a tall man and she had only see him once before, but this time she got a clear view at him. He was a white faced man with skin as pale as the moon. His bones were sunken in like they had been chiseled with knives. His eyes were intimidating, they were dark purple mixed with red, slit-pupiled in half and stared at one person: Harry.

She wondered if he remembered her smashing his fathers grave. She hoped so.

"So you smashed my prophecy?" Voldemort asked softly, his eyes narrowing carelessly. "No Bella, he is not lying... I see the truth looking at me from within his worthless mind.. Months of preparation, months of effort and my Death Eaters have let Harry Potter thwart me again..."

"That should say something, shouldn't it?" Aurora asked, moving out from behind Sirius, and towards Harry. Her hand slipped into his. When he did not answer, she repeated. "Shouldn't it?"

Voldemort seemed to want to speak, but someone wouldn't allow it.

"Master, I am sorry, I knew not, I was fighting the Animagus Black!" Bellatrix flung herself down at Voldemort's feet as he paced slowly nearer to them all. "Master, you should know-"

"Be quiet, Bella," Voldemort hissed dangerously. "I shall deal with you in a moment. Do you think I have entered the Ministry of Magic to hear your sniveling apologies?"

"But Master, he is here, he is below -"

Voldemort paid no attention to her. "I have nothing more to say to you, Potter. You have irked me too often, for too long. AVADA KEDAVRA-"

When her boyfriend made no attempt to block the spell, she went to but someone got there first. A headless golden statue of the wizard in the fountain had sprung alive, leaping from its plinth, and landed on the floor with a crash between Harry and Voldemort. How long was he standing there?

The spell merely bounced off its chest and the statue flung out its arms, protecting Harry.

"What- ?" Voldemort breathed in fury., before realisation hit his harsh features. "Dumbledore."

She looks and indeed Dumbledore had been there, behind the golden gates. Instantly, Voldemort raised his wand and sent another jet of green light at Dumbledore, who turned and was gone in a whirling of his cloak. He appeared behind Voldemort and waved his wand toward the remnants of the fountain; the other statues sprang to life too.
