Moving in with Justin and Kei? And running away from home? Good Lord. Gwen thought.

Thankfully, her father wasn't scheduled to be back until next Friday.

Gwen didn't even want to leave a note behind for fear of her safety. She got her basic necessities, her plushies, makeup, and a couple of clothes and stuffed it in a piece of small luggage and headed back to the Lester Riddle's house.

When Gwen arrived at the door, she scoffed, "You know, you could've just kept me rather than to ask me to come back, you know?"

Kei greeted Gwen with a smile playing on his lips. "Justin went out to buy midnight snacks. It's just you and me now, sugarplum."

"For God's sake. What is wrong with you?"

Kei took Gwen's stuff upstairs to an empty room that was fully furnished as if it was ready for her to move in anytime. He didn't speak, and he slumped onto the sofa in the room that was meant for her.

He took out an envelope from his pocket. It was yellowing, and there was a strangely familiar smell of blood which Gwen was used to whenever she went near the basement of her house. Those were ominous memories she did not want to reminisce.

He handed it over to her. "Read it." He said simply.

Gwen opened the letter, and with trembling fingers, her grip over the letter tightened and she struggled to accept what she had just read.

Kei, Justin, if you ever read this, it means I'm dead and caught by Daniel. Please look after the child Gwen, of Laurelai's leader. Her mother saved your lives during the assassination and died to protect you. Gwen is by no means related to their criminal activity, but her life is in danger as well.

"So...all this time...my mother was dead?"

"Gwen, she wanted to protect you as well...She knew someday your Dad would find out who she was, and she left before that could happen."

"So...she was a member of Siege?"

"Yes, but believe me, Gwen. Your mum was kind. She wasn't involved in fights, but in protecting the welfare of the members. Not all mafioso have to be violent and full of brute force all the time...She was different..."

Warm tears streamed down her face.

"And all this while, you were protecting me?"

"I couldn't possibly let your mother down..." he looked away. "She saved our lives, Gwen. And I only knew of this a few years ago."

"My mum...your uncle...and..." Gwen couldn't even form sentences. Mucus clogged her throat and her hands were trembling. "No..."

Kei sighed and pulled Gwen into his grasp.
