EREGOR
Justin was pretty sure this was about Miss Hepbum. And if Robin didn't warn him in advance that he had noticed Miss Hepbum acting strangely near the principal's office, Justin wouldn't have been in time to rescue Gwen.
Earlier in the day, Robin noticed Miss Hepbum walking out of the principal's office with Lyndel's necklace, and it was odd because she had never been a fan of necklaces nor chokers. She always wore bangles or some sort of fancy wristwatch to classes, but amulets and necklaces were never really her thing.
Justin got his VR set and lay in Gwen's bed with Gwen as they entered Eregor, and they were immediately teleported to the meeting room in their mafia hideout.
Kaomos was seated at the far end, and now that Justin knew he was Kei, he had a little more respect for him. Justin used to think that Kei was a manipulator of pawns like him to do his dirty work until he realized there was more to Kei's job than just giving orders.
"So why did you call us over, Robin?" Kei began as he pulled out his modified AR15.
"It's the amulet, sir." Robin placed the amulet on the meeting table and they all took a good look at it.
"Isn't this the same one Lyndel wore? Why did Miss Hepbum have it on her?"
"Are they family?"
"No... they're completely unrelated. Lyndel's real name is Antoinette Hills."
"Wait...then isn't...?"
Everyone turned to stare at Gwen.
"Gwen, isn't the principal's surname Hills?"
"No way. Did we kill his daughter?"
"And was he possibly placing Miss Hepbum's job on the line because he wanted to kill Gwen? And how did he even know Gwen was the one who killed her?" Justin shook his head. None of this made sense.
"Then, who exactly is Mr. Hills?" Gwen seemed really worried. "He must definitely be associated with Eregor."
"Does it not make sense to you at all?" Kaomos opened a can of beer and took a gulp. "Mr. Hills is another allied mafioso with Laurelai. When I said Laurelai has a huge network, I wasn't kidding..."
Kaomos got up from his seat. "Basically, this amulet may or may not have been a bait Laurelai has made us pick up. If we leave it in Eregor, it's safer than leaving it in real life." Kaomos signalled their tech expert to unravel the amulet's puzzle. "Nat!"
