The next three days at school, Alice aimlessly passed by Luke and kept to herself during music class. Meanwhile, Luke had to try and actually hold himself back from writing letters and going up to talk to her. That's why on the fourth day, Luke decided to actually show up during English class. He'd always hated this class and only showed up at least twice a semester. He waited by the door of the class for Alice to come in before he did so that he could sit next to her. When he saw her coming, he immediately turned around and waited until the second bell rang to go in. Sure enough, there was an empty seat next to her, which is where he say down.

"Hi." He whispered leaning a little bit towards her. The look on her face was priceless when she looked up from her notebook to see Luke.

But she didn't say anything more, but nodded. It was Luke's face's turn to be priceless. He thought for sure that this would get a reaction from her. He would have to try harder then.

"Good morning class," Ms. Hicker, the cranky old teacher greeted and turned to the rows of students, her eyes stopping on one Luke Hemmings. "Ah, Luke Hemmings. Is this one of your annual visits to mu class?"

"Nope," He answered confidently, which made everyone turn their heads to him except Alice, who just stared ahead. "I'm attending full semester." He glanced at her and saw the flicker of movement in her eyes. Gotcha.

"Well, if you're going to make up for what you've missed, you'll need some help and some extra tutoring sessions." She crossed her arms over her chest, staring down everyone in the class, indirectly asking them to raise their hand and volunteer.

"Ms. Peters." Alice's head shot up.

"Yes?"

"You will tutor Mr. Hemmings." She said, more like demanded.

"But--" Alice knew nothing would change her mind so she shut up and just nodded.

"Mr. Hemmings, she will be your tutor and I ask that you treat her with respect. After all, she is the only one who cares about this class."

"Of course." Luke smirked and looked at Alice, but she was buried in her notebook again.

After class, Luke decided that English wasn't that bad and even found himself listening at one point.

"So, when do you wanna start?" Alice walked up to him and sighed.

"We could do it after school?" Luke smirked at his green joke.

"Ha-ha. After school, don't be late." She said and walked off, leaving Luke staring at her back. Damn. Metaphorically, Luke knew they were a rubber band. You could try and stretch as much as you wanted, but it would always stick together. He just had to prove that to her. Fast, too.
