Once the car had finally started, they were on the road. Awkward and silent was the theme for the ride. Neither of them knew what to say to each other. Neither of them knew how they felt about each other.

The kiss was rough, but passionate. It was forced, but emotional. It was by far the best kiss they have ever had. Too bad they both pulled away.
Alice sat properly in her seat and buckled herself in. Luke did the same and tried the car once more before it finally made a sound.
It was an awkward silence. The radio was off because they were both too shy and waiting for the other to make the first move. They both looked directly at the road, occasionally glancing at each other when the other wasn't looking.
\\End of Flashback\\
With both hands on the wheel, Luke initiated conversation. "What time is it?"
Alice looked down to her watch, jumping a little at the sudden voice. "Almost 9."
"What time's the game?"
"8:30."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be. It wasn't your fault anyway. I mean, it's not like you knew the battery was dying, right?"
Damn it. Luke swallowed without an answer.
"Oh my god, you knew?!"
"I didn't know exactly. I knew it was dying, but I didn't think it would die today."
"Well if you knew it was dying, why didn't you get it fixed?"
"It didn't die yesterday, so I assumed it wouldn't today."
"Ugh. I can't believe this. You totally planned this." Alice huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Why would I plan this? Please tell me 'cause I didn't even want to be here. I had stuff to do and here I go and just brush everything off my schedule to help you."
"Stop the car!" Luke stepped on the breaks and the car came to an abrupt stop. Alice removed her seatbelt and slammed the door shut.
"Thanks for the ride." She muttered before jogging off to the entrance of the school.
Alice made her way through the hallways, following the loud cheers coming from the field. By the time she got there, it was already halftime. She stepped out onto the grass and ran towards her boyfriend, who was drinking on the bench.
"Ryder!" His head whipped around to see who was calling him and his eyes landed on his girlfriend.
"A-alice?" He met her halfway and Alice was already panting. "What are you doing here?" He laughed half-heartedly, glad that his girlfriend was here to support him.
"I passed my paper early and drove here."
"Awesome!" He placed a loving kiss on her lips and she kissed back, throwing her arms around his neck, while his arm wrapped around her waist and the other cupping her cheek.

Luke sat in that car for a good 5 minutes thinking. Just thinking. What the hell happened this morning? What the hell was he thinking?
He obviously had feelings for Alice that was more than friendly. So what was he still doing in this car? Wasting time, that's what.
So he ran inside. He didn't know where the field was, so he followed the loud sound of a big crowd. He finally found where it was. He tried looking around, but he couldn't find her. In the end, something caught his eye. Something big and sad.
A screen.
Displaying a couple.
Kissing.
That coincidentally looked like Alice and Ryder.
A screen displaying a couple kissing in the side of the field, that coincidentally looked like Alice and Ryder is what it was.
And just like that, Luke's heart broke into a billion little pieces and no matter how un-manly that sounded, it was what he felt.
That big screen gave him nothing but grief and heartache. I guess you could say heartache on the big screen.
He had no choice, but to leave. He didn't belong there. So he drove home, had someone pick up Alice's car, made sure it got to her house safely, then took out his guitar. He didn't think twice about school, he only thought about what he was feeling, how he was going to put it in words and how he was going to find the perfect melody.
Cause it really was heartache on the fucking big screen.
