Chapter 20

Dana's POV :

We jam to doin' it right with the windows down and the speakers up. Jack and I are in the back seat while Tina and Gilinsky are in the front with Gilinsky driving.

We reach this huge house and I could see colorful lights beaming out the window. Well this is probably gonna be those typical teenage party scenarios. I secretly pray it won't be like Jenna Hamilton's party in the series Awkard. But hey I need to get out more I guess.

We walk in and everyone is dancing with the music extremely loud. Jack puts his arm around my waist and leads me to a couch. Making our way to the couch I see a couple making out and I try to avoid looking at them cause they are kinda gross. Jack and I sit down and he introduces me to his friends Nate, Daniel  and Sammy. We chit chat for a while and I spot a food table around the corner.

"Hey Jack I wanna go to the food table"

"Dana you just ate before we got here. But knowing you, you practically have five stomachs. Just avoid drinking cause they probably spiked them and I know you're not into that."

"Alright thanks for the heads up" I kiss him on the cheek and walk to the food table.

Jack's POV:

"Bro you caught a good one" Nate says

"Ya I like her." Sammy adds.

"Me too.. I don't think she likes me in that way though." I say while looking at her from afar.

"Dude are you serious? We could see the way she looks at you. Even a blind man can sense the chemistry." Daniel implies

I smile and we continue our conversation.

Dana's POV:

As I chomp down on some Nachos this girl starts talking to me . She seems pretty nice.

"Hey my name is Mallory by the way." She says while drinking from a red cup. Alcohol I guess.

"My name is Dana" I smile at her. She's really pretty.

"Oh you're that girl who Jack invited right?"

"Ya..  My dad is the manager of Magcon and he brings me along so that's how I met the guys. Jack and I are the closest though we always spend time together compared to the others."

"Oh really.. Well he's my ex by the way."

"Oh uh.. Why did you guys break up?"

"He was being really distant with me lately. I feel like he has grown tired of me. Either he's at Magcon or whenever he was with me he would be texting. He has been really absent minded lately as well. He'd always be looking somewhere just daydreaming or something instead of listening to me"

"Oh."

"If you like him I suggest you don't because he goes switching between girls like they're toys." I look down feeling like an insignificant bug.

"Switching between girls like toys huh? Maybe I haven't been paying attention to you because I saw you cheating on me when you thought I was at Magcon!" Jack starts. This boy is so nosy.

I remember Jack telling me about this after the first time we met in Magcon when we were texting. His flight was delayed till the next day so he wanted to spend some time with his girlfriend. He bought her flowers and went over to her house and found her making out with his "friend" Nick on her balcony.

"Look Dana don't listen to her. She was trying to get back with me since forever and she's trying to knock down every girl so she could get me"

"But.. why me?"

"The first part she said about me being absent minded is true,  I'm hung up thinking about YOU because I... I like you Dana."

He looks at me with his sincere blue eyes and I know he's telling the truth. I express how I feel with not a word but an action.

I kiss him.
